Feature request for MKII machines: screensaver or display-off on idle

I’m rocking an A4 and Octatrack, both MKII, and I tend to leave my machines on all the time in my studio. Recently I noticed a fair amount of burn-in on both the Octatrack and A4 displays. I opened a support ticket on the A4 and Elektron was very helpful, offering to replace it. I’ll get it done eventually when I finish the backlog of tracks I’m working on this spring. I get it – this happens with OLED screens, and honestly it’s not a big deal to me.

However…an idle screensaver or a feature that turns the display off when the machine is idle would be a good addition to the MKII line to prevent this sort of thing.

Probably safer if that was only activated manually.

Oh yeah, and on the DT please.

Maybe rather than turn the screen off after a set time have it invert on a 50/50 duty cycle.

Rev 2 has that, simple and works perfectly. It just turns the screen off after 15 minutes or so of un-use. the second you touch a knob or key, its back on. Also considering the shorter life span of OLED screens, t’would would be a lovely addition. In the meantime I always make sure to turn of my OLED elektron units when I’m done.

As far as I understand it turning it off will only slow the process, inverting it will stop it from happening.

Yeah screen saver is a good idea on OLED. I left the 3D printer on constantly at work and now it has some permanent burn in on the screen  oops

Nonono! Not a good idea for OLEDs. Better turn them off.

Is this problem still happening?

Both of these machines have screen dimming in latest OS

Is there anyway that there could be a button press to engage the screensaver manually?
