It’s the most painful omission in the Octatrack for me and adding something like this would transform how it could be used. A single command ‘save all buffers to static/self’ (or even flex would be fine if that’s easier) that you could assign to a MIDI note/footswitch would be amazing.
I record intro/verse/chorus/variations as separate parts on 3/4 tracks (bass/guitar/synths) and it’s a real wrench to go from making music to file management/sample allocation every time I want to record a new part. The only way to avoid it that I’ve heard of is to use multiple tracks set to the same record buffer (to change the parts on another single track) which is an insane workaround.
