Favorite Drum Synth (hardware or software)

Was looking at drum synths this past week as I’ve realized I mostly have samplers/samples. So I was curious, what’s everyone favorite hardware, software, or even iOS drum synths?

I think a lot of people like the Digitone and A4.

A4 and TR-6S. I’m sure I’d love the Nord Drum 2 and DRM1 mk4 but I also doubt I’ll ever get definitive proof of that.

Pure drum synth sound, MFB Tanzbär 1
Clap, snare, hats, percussions all sound really good.

Basically it’s all really usable for a drum synth sounds. You also get Elektron style plocks which doesn’t hurt at all.

Edit:

In software, I’d have to say that Softube Heartbeat actually sounds pretty good too.

I haven’t really focused on it but I’m sure you could make a nice setup with a sequencer in Softube Modular using the Softube heartbeat modules.

I love my rd6 for its sound and how it swings. Fact is, I’m not using it since I got my m:s and m:c. But I won’t sell it, I’ll keep it for the rest of my life and give it to my kids when I’m dead and gone!

Elektron AR MKII, Moog DFAM, and Vermona DRM1.

Well I use the OT, so it’s my main source as far as synthesizing, but I really enjoy an app on my iphone called “Figure” you can tweak the drum sounds and it’s ability to have everything set to specific time signatures really makes putting together great beats easy enough that you could do it drunk and blindfolded, and it’s FREE with a good number of kits, as well as synth sounds for leads and bass lines. And it sounds really crisp/good. So it’s great for quick sketching of ideas.

Was interested in the Nord Drum 2, or even 3p. How is programming sounds on it?

I’ve got two Nord 3P’s so I guess it must be my favorite. Also on the hardware side, AKAI MPC’s drum synths are worth a mention.

RYTM, Machinedrum,
Microtonic for sure

it’s not too bad. it’s pretty easy to just bind ccs to it in your daw, but i honestly don’t mind programming via itse interface.

Machinedrum UW by far.
As far as software I’d have to say the sugarbytes Drumcomputer
And for iOS Drambo is excellent.

I feel like there’s a serious lack of drum synths, I mean they are out there but there’s not a plethora of them.
That Erica synths drum machine is on my radar for sure though that think sounds great.

Overall though I’d love to see more hardware drum synthesizers, not samplers but actual synths.

I have a Syntakt and TR-8S. Both are nice but I prefer the Syntakt at the moment for its size and chromatic mode.

TR8-S is my favourite.
The ACB models, and FM engine are very good .

(The sample engine is also very powerful)

My favourite was Sonic Potions LXR. Even so I’m considering Erica Synths LXR-2 now.
Nanoloop FM is currently the only ‘drum synth’ I have and I guess it can be counted in as well.

Software : Drumcomputer (it’s like Microtonic on steroids, basically)
Hardware : Nord Drum 3p and Korg Volca Drum (I think now I’m hooked by the Volca Drum, it took me a long time though)
