Fave sampling sampler(s)?

I like the Akai Force. Sampling to clips is very fast and easy. And synced.

But the biggest workflow thing that made everything easier was having an mixer and using an group bus for sending stuff to the sampler. Makes everything faster and easier.

I tried with OT but we didn’t gel. I have KO-33 always in my pocket, it’s fun.
I work itb though so mainly I use push 2 + Ableton, fast and limitless.

I really enjoyed sampling on the OP-1, the main reasons being ease of use and and polyphonic sample playback.

Still thinking about that one. Does it click when recording loops or is it able to find zero-crossings on its own (actual software version)? Is it possible to make sound on sound loops? Thanks a lot! :slight_smile:

Never heard of this. Stuff of Dreams years ago.

€149 PCM card (w/ USB) for the original hardware. Uses software editor over USB. 8.4s of sample time. WAV/AIF/MP3 support.

Any idea if they plan on editor support for the software plugins? Or Wavestate? Looks like they’re working on one for the Roland R8 too.

:partying_face: My 303 has always worked with a pedalboard power supply so I tried the Ripcord I bought for my Zoia and a powerbank with the 303 and it works!!!

Too band Smartmedia is still pretty silly.

Lately it’s chopping hours of old Eurorack multitrack recordings in an audio editor. Lifetime of material there.

Before that it was creating melodic instruments from VSTi/AU plugins using the Autosampler function in modern Akai samplers.

Before that it was copying the entire sample library from VSTis and creating instruments & drumkits for software samplers. :japanese_ogre:

Before that it was recording hardware and acoustic instruments and creating instruments & drumkits for rack samplers.

It’s a vicious cycle!

I was fortunate to have this odd adapter with mine that used xd memory cards. might be worth looking into.

I can’t guess what they might be planning… but making compatible cards that behave within the parameters expected by the hardware is very different from somehow subverting the closed-off code of the virtual instruments… unless of course they were working directly with Korg. The day Korg allows user-sampling on the Wavestate is the day I buy one! :heart_eyes:

Digitakt and Akai S3000xl for me .

I’ve learned a lot just by reading your comments. I started with a Korg ES2 so switching to a Digitakt seemed like a big step up in many ways, the Digitakt workflow just made more sense to me than the S2. I also bought a ESX with the smart media… I love it, but it does have the intermittent ghost knob action, it settles down quickly and doesn’t affect the performance really, but it’s still an issue.

I just got a Bastl MicroGranny that seems really cool. Crazy long sample times, small, battery powered, small mic, input, comes with a micro sd. etc… admittedly I haven’t spent hours with it yet, but It seems unique.

I had a Korg ES, the green one which was really EASY to sample, but not much after that. But, maybe there was a lot more to it and I was the lacking variable in the equation ha ha.

The Digitakt is really fast and fun,
but somehow I keep Getting back to my MPC1000 with jjos2xl. It is just a beast. I love programming it, especially making instruments for live use, but maybe the sound is a bit dull?
I like the way I can zoom in and edit the details of a sample.

I’m not sure of the difference to be honest.

Always record my own, although I’ve used some stuff from old BBC radio plays now and then. I cut those in Reaper and fine tune on the OT, OT is better for live sampling and trimming or slicing than going through an hour long sample and cutting out small pieces here and there.

I think I was happier two minutes ago when I thought the Polyend Tracker was just very attractive sequencer that could play back samples. Was not aware I could also sample into it. How am I supposed to resist now?

Here to add another vote into the tracker hat…. Where it shines, it REALLY shines. The sentiment and specifics have been shared in above posts and throughout the tracker thread… it’s either entirely not for you and you’ll return it in anger OR it will unlock a level of workflow zen for you that can keep up with a 4 album/year release schedule.
Can it do everything? Nope.
Can it sample? Yes!
For very long? Nooooooooo.
Can it reinvigorate a dying love for the art and act of sampling? For at least a vocal few of us, YES.

1010music Blackbox gets my vote for the long samples.

Korg microsampler takes the cake for ‘strange scenario’ sampling (threshold trig rec. / gated key press recording / auto next sampling) It does a bunch of oddball stuff that isn’t always useful or practical, but in certain scenarios it’s suuuuuper handy to have this ‘Swiss army knife’ type sampler around.

Emu Emax… love it…not the easiest to sample but it is polyphonic and the analog filters are awesome! Would love a polyphonic sample device from Elektron! With analog filters…
