Fat. Just a word?

So apropos of the discussion going on about the AK’s possibly “fatter” sound, I got to thinking about the limitations of words for describing sound, I thought it would be interesting to start qualifying our terms. We all use words like “fat” and “warm” and “analog” a lot. Basses can be “heavy”, “full”, “subby”, “deep” and lots of other words. So - find your favorite basslines and post them up here.

For me, it’s this tune by Dabrye. I don’t know if it’s the frequency of the bass, the way the syncopation works with the kick or how the envelope opens and closes the filter, but I LOVE this bassline. Every time I need to try out a new pair of headphones, speakers, an amp - even filters, I play this track through the new gear. This one is my fat bass line. What’s yours???

That is fat. That is down to processing and mastering

Not a bass line, or ‘fat’ really. But love how the kick drum carries this track through.

Yeah. That’s a great tune. Music of courage. That kick pairs really well with the rap.

So much bass on this thread. Wicked

For me, this has to be the tastiest bit of juicy bass steak you could ever want. There isn’t a song that touches it for me.

Saw these guys when I was a kid playing in a beer cellar in front of 30 people. Stood 3 feet away from Larry & Les, doesn’t get any fatter than that
