Faster way to resample a sound

Hi, how would be the faster way to resample a processed sample in the OT? I’d like to use extreme sample pitch, like -36 or -64 semitones, but the OT range is only ±24 semitones. So I have to resample.

Using my Electribe I just use the knobs, I press Record+Play, and then I trigger the sample -> then optional edit -> save it and use it.

How would be this in the OT?

Many ways to resample… but i would do a non-triggered, quantized manual sample… (quantized on beginning of pattern or something dividable by 4)

then again… if i want to play melody, i use pitch… if i want to change octave… i change rate in steps of 16… which works really well for single notes…

I didn’t understand it… is it fast to do? With ESX is just few of seconds (excluding the sample naming which is very tedius).

lowering the RATE knob can lower pitches by several octaves. if i remember correctly:

+63 = original pitch
+32 = -12 semitones
+16 = -24 semitones
+8 = -36 semitones
+4 = -48 semitones

Thank you that’s pretty valuable. a +12 to -36 value is enough for me.

Faster than what?

A common WYHIWYG resample routine is to use a master channel and set SRC3 to record MAIN. Grabbing what you hear is then just T8 + MIDI away. Done. Put than in the base project so it’s always on hand.

Saving the buffer is, obviously, an additional step.

Speaking of these, does anyone have a nice quick way of getting more than +12 semitones on a sample?

I have been using the retrig at infinite, but that causes problems with pitching afterwards.

I’ve also fiddled with the tempo in the wave edit with variable degrees of success, but it’s a pain.

Pitching up and resampling is okay for short single samples, but isn’t really great for chains and longer samples.

That only leaves external options.

Tricks? Tips?

Chromatic sample chains give you 4 octaves off the bat (plus PITCH/RATE). More prep and not MIDI-able. Otherwise solid.

Oh wait - you mean OTB?
