Does anyone here use The Accountant with their synths?
Really strange how Fairfield have drifted from sensible if slightly off kilter fuzzes, delays, modulation to increasingly bizarre pedals.
Bonkers…
Favorite pedal company at the moment . . . Roger That is the fist tough NGNY23 challenge!
Luckily they’re all mono. Great sounding pedals though.
I really want the ring modulator pedal, waiting for one to pop up used at a good price near me. The delay looks really nice as well.
What are people’s favorites. I was surprised by the bad reviews on the Shallow Waters thread. I guess maybe they sound better on guitar than synths?
I really wish they’d do stereo versions, but yeah, that’d get dangerous immediately.
It is the most beautiful ring mod pedal I’ve ever played.
If you guys are interested I composed a piece especially for it :
Cheers !
Fairfield Circuitry Placeholder. Bucket Brigade Reverb. All-Analog Reverb engine.
Huhhuh.
A unique and distinguish product. FC are awesome.
Indeed. Very emotive and beautiful pedals and this seems like one of their greatest so far.
I love those swells when the size param is tweaked. Damn. ![]()
Wow, great piece of music!
Thanks for the head up @Tchu. I love LoFi verbs, I love BBD delays, I’ve already patched some of the latter to sound like the former ![]()
Plus I love the FC pedals I have here. I sometimes use a Shallow Water on anything I want to sound like it is 60 years older.
The other one I have is in between utilitary and creative, to me. It is the Long Life. The variety of frequency shaping possibilies it offers is amazing.
The Meet Maude stayed long in my wish list but I think at some point I put a term to my quest of the perfect delay and decided I had everything I needed. Still some posts above (I’ve just discovered this thread…) have me wondering. Bref.
One exemplary of this Placeholder might end here…

So….
It’s not like your usual Reverb that pretty much adds reverb.
It’s metallic reverb, and doesn’t sound like the usual metallic reverb I know (OTO BAM, Eventide).
It’s kind of multi-tap reverb that has an anxiety issue due to the side effects of time travel from 1970’s sci-fi punk.
Love it. Think, you woke up in your car one morning not knowing where you are. It’s cold, you look around and you’re at the drive-inn. Your imagination is playing the soundtrack to the Quatermass Conclusion.
Sounds perfect ![]()
I shouldn’t have said “sound like” but “behave like” instead.
I compared to the Ventris last night too (has a Metallic Reverb under the hood) and the Fairfield doesn’t “behave” like that either.
After a few hours of messing around with it I concluded that for myself it’ll never actually be used as a reverb (even with a delay in the send loop) but it definitely works for me as a vibe to give some mid to upper range sounds that sci-fi punk element.
The Placeholder sounds totally up my alley. I might have to break my “no new gear” constraint for this ![]()
Also, that FC demo is great as a standalone suite of music. Love it.
If by chance you want to post examples of a use with synths, asking for a friend ![]()
