Hey I noticed the volume knob on my OT MKII was loose a couple of days ago, I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how you delt with it, sent it in, fixed it your selfs?
My fader has also been loose but that has been like that since I bought it new a month ago so I figured it was supposed to be like that but now I am starting to wonder if there something went wrong during production since both the fader and the volume knob have the same issue.
I have moved/traveled with the unit a couple of times and made sure it is transported safely with padding in a carrying case. It has been standing in the same place now for two weeks and the Vol knob only got loose a couple of days ago, seems wierd to me.
In the interest of not creating extra threads, I found this post and want to also ask again about this issue.
I received a replacement OT from an initial shipping damage issue. The new one arrived with all the encoders having some wobble. Nothing as bad as the video above shows, but more movement than the OT I had just sent back.
Can anyone add some new insight into the encoders and issues of wobble? Other than a Polyend Tracker with significant movement in the encoder, I have always had good luck with very stable encoders and pots.
Maybe with gentle use, it will never be an issue?
For the high price of this thing, I feel a bit uncertain with
potential issues right out of the box.
Sorry to bump this, but I’m having the exact same problem. I also haven’t moved the unit, and always put the deck saver on top when I finish using it, so I’m a bit perplexed as how this might’ve happened. Did you end up having to repair it? could it somehow be the nut below the knob that loosened?
You have two options. Send it to Elektron for repair, or open it up and look for yourself. Taking the front panel off is very simple, and from this picture I found on the google, you should be able to find out your problem very quickly. It’s possibly the soldering joint, or something like that.
I have the same issue, opened it up before and the issue was a small metal bracket holding the knob in place. This metal is bendable, so I did. It fixed the issue for a while, but it reappeared again
I will open it up again somewhere and try to jam something between the small bracket to keep it in place.
I had a similar issue, and it’s exactly as you described. In the end, I decided to desolder the potentiometer. This way, I could use a pair of pliers to really press down on the metal bracket to secure it back in place and last longer. If not, I might have to try and find a replacement part. It’s a bit frustrating because the construction of the headphone volume pot isn’t the same as the encoder, with the single piece metal casing holding the shaft in place so it can’t come loose.
