Facepalm - The Analog Rytm file management system

I swear no matter how many tutorials and experience I have with my Analog Rytm some things forever remain a mystery. So I have a directory called New Drum Sounds inside the “incoming” directory (never wanted it there but whatever) for my new samples all of which are in sub directories based on kit type: kicks, snares, etc. Now I thought I’d take the directory inside “incoming” and put it on the same file level as “incoming.” Can’t cut and paste directory. Can’t even cut and paste sub directories into a newly created directory on the same level as “incoming.” It seems I can only move the actual samples, which I don’t want to do as I do not want to recreate all the subdirectory folders again.

It’s like whenever I try and manage files in the AR file system things just end up all over the place. I can’t seem to get things in a neat order that is comprehensive and doesn’t require me to go hunting around. Really wish there was a proper file management tool for the AR. Is there really no way to move directories?

I delete and resend myself.

But, just to clarify, you don’t need to create the directory under incoming. Put it anywhere then set it as incoming by browsing to within it and press left arrow to bring up the menu, select upload here. Yeah?

I’ve literally laughed out loud twice reading this… For some reason I find it so funny😂…

I followed the video on the how-to. Started a new Project (not sure why this is necessary but anyways…) somehow thought I’d get to put in a directory other than incoming but that didn’t happen. At any rate seems I cannot move a directory to another folder directory only samples and as I already have all the samples organized by type I do not want to move the samples out of the sub directories. Maybe I can just try saving as sounds or create kits and save that. I suppose it doesn’t matter that much if they all remain in incoming dir but I would prefer to have the folder on same level as incoming as it is no longer “incoming.”

Do you select the directory of your choice as ‘upload here’?
The one called incoming is the default and when you first turn your box on that’s where files go but you can change the destination as I describe.

I should mention, 1) everyone thinks file handling should be better 2) it’s not as bad as it seems at first, just takes some getting used to.

I can offer no solutions only solidarity . I need a support group to get me through these rytm frustrations . But I will not be deterred !

Yes. As much as I love the RYTM, the whole kits / sounds / etc really is a bit confusing.

I haven’t started using Overbridge yet, but is it possible to create your own kits, move kits form one project to another on Overbridge? It seems like a “drag and drop” would be perfect for creating your own kits etc.
