Extraordinary Analog Equipment Doomed To Nerdfactory

Hi there

as you are reading this, I might not be sitting outside in the dark in my shorts anymore. I’m enjoying these cozy 15 degree Celsius during a super mild early fall here in Switzerland, thinking about all this new gorgeous analog equipment popping up the last 3 years. Lush animated overtones and screaming, roaring filter sweeps. Almost every tonal sculpture, every freaking patch and every GAS eruption with a modular, semimodular or simple subtractive standard synth in my ears is utterly worth the effort, the love and the time spend on creating these sounds.

All this work and beauty will never find it’s way into the mainstream daily radio music.

A shame?
Absolutely jusitfied?
Am I completely wrong?
Should I shut up because it makes absolutely no sense?
What are your thougts about sound fetish belonging to non pop music?

If you have the time, feel free to take off (as an Elektronaut would say…)

Lol. I don’t think I want Euro Rack wanks and Acid 303 808 jams on the radio. That is for us, the nerds. When Hip-hop and EDM started to be on the Radio, we all lost something. As much as we gained wider acceptance. I think there is a place for Katy Perry/Niki Minaj. That is the Radio, with their cutting edge digital ITB production that is the main stream sound right now. Let’s keep the Analog underground as long as we can. Modulars are the next VA’s!

True that Mr. Flannel, but imagine the creative challenge to place a nice drone in pop production for example. Any examples of thungs like that? I don’t know 'em.

While it might not be top ten pop music there are a lot of analog synths showing up on the popular alternative channels. Take Chrvches for example. Lots of high end analog gear in their recordings and they’ve charted in many countrys.

Great song here

And don’t forget about the biggest song/album/duo of last year. Entire album was in analog.
