External synth keys triggering a sample from another track

Hi all,

On track 5 I have a thru machine (Virus TI2 connected) and it was playing just fine before.
On track 6 there is a sample I recorded from my mic.

I have no idea what I have done to be honest. But now, when I play the bassline on the synth keys, it also triggers a sample in completely different track. In fact, it seems that all the samples and other stuff are laid out on the keys in different octaves. I could even start the loop from B3, and I don’t want this. I want my samples etc only to be trigger internally in the OT, and be able to live play my synth through track 5.

Please, if there is anything you can think of that my clumsy hands might have done…

I have only made 3 projects this far, and it is only now in this project that I ahve touch something that made it this way. I am real noob, as I got the OT last saturday, and been having a REAL blast up until now…

All answers are warmly welcomed, and thanks a lot in advance.

Best, zrka

Welcome to the forum!

This is a commonly-encountered problem for new Octatrack users. Have a look at the first part (about note mapping) of this recent post:

Thank you for the quick reply!

Turning AUDIO NOTE IN to off did what I needed right now. Are the only downsides of this setting of that I won’t be able to trigger these MIDI function from the keys of my synth anymore, or anything else that won’t work now?

Thanks again.

I was actually pointing you to the first part of my reply on that linked topic. If you used the CHROMATIC note mapping on the OT instead of the STANDARD note mapping (both described in Appendix C of the OT manual) then you don’t need to worry about settings like AUDIO NOTE IN.
