External hard drive

wouldn’t be great if u could plug in external hard drive to your drum machine you could have so many sounds on it and have them categorized ready to play one for future?

I’ve got a big 120 Gig external in my MPC 1000, bottomless sampling!

well i ment it for elektron

You should check out the IOS app Strom and Audioshare, if you have an iPad that is. I store about 5 gigs of samples in Audioshare, push it to Strom via the built in share ability. From there you can make further adjustments and mangle the hell out of the sample then send it directly to the RYTM via a direct USB connection and Camera Connection Kit.
An external HDD would probably require a lot of code in the RYTM to process it, but I could be wrong. It may seem like a lot of hoops to jump, but it’s quite a powerful little setup.

Funnily enough, I never hooked up a HDD to any of my MPCs. The USB stick with a few gigs always felt like enough diskspace for me in practice, less noise and power probs too.

Back around 2002-2004 I had hundreds of gigs worth of samples, and it became a mental prison for me, got nothing done, endlessly swapping out samples (used to call it sample-surfing). YMMV as always but for me, less is more.
