External audio in

I have a machinedrum non UW. What is the quality like of the external audio inputs? I am thinking of making a little setuip where I run my nord lead A1R into my digitone and then the output of the digitone into the machinedrum. Is this a bad idea?

Why not try it and see whether you like it?

I agree with Peter, give it a shot!

One unique benefit is the ability to p-lock filter, EQ, dist, gate, etc. treatments of the external inputs. So definitely not a bad idea.

The ins are sometimes a really great choice; i tend to use the inputs both in my Digitone and Rytm when i want a compact setup without a mixer - and i also get access to effects and other “stuff”. I imagine it being at least as useful in the Machinedrum, though i havent tried it yet.
In your case, you can use the Digitone effects (which are quite good by the way) and then the MD “stuff”, a very nice combo.
Go for it!

44.1kHz, 24 bit D/A and A/D converters

I guess this is also for INPUT machines?

If you use RAM sampling / realtime playing, the quality is lower, 12 bits, but you can mangle more with pitch, reverse…

I have a non UW machine so no sampling…

Let’s say it’s a chance, you use the best quality for inputs!
Still didn’t try? Envelope follower is one of the first things I tried. Go ahead !
