Existential question about LED repair

Created a support ticket and am sending my digitakt for repair because a bunch of the trig LED’s aren’t fully working. Either completely not working or just certain colors are working. I’ve been working around it for months until I could find a time without gigs to send it in. Not a deal breaker, but certainly annoying.
When I was problem solving the issue, there were a few posts on here about the same issue and I got the sense that this happens regularly enough?

Luckily the device is still under warranty - but I’ve only had it for 2 years. I use it live and travel with it all the time - but it’s been taken care of. It makes me nervous that 2 years in that I’m already needing a repair. For context, before I was using a used 303 and a 404sx for 15 and 8 years respectively without any issues. The digitakt has completely revolutionized my workflow (it’s ridiculously superior to those devices) , but what gives? Should I be expecting more of this?

I don’t think anyone can answer that question. Maybe not even elektron.

This specific issue does come up though.

Compared to a 303 and a 404 the simple answer may be that with more components, there is a greater statistical chance that a component may fail. In practice, it’s not so simple.

If you want to be prepared for the worst, you can always have it in the back of your mind that there is a potential for failure.

I have two (2) digitakts and neither of them nor my digitone has had the issue, but that doesn’t mean they won’t, or that it can’t happen, it just means that the statistic is not so great that people are suffering on a “once per owner” basis, so to me that says it’s unpredictable.

Though, if in the event you want to buy a backup unit, there has never been a time where DT1’s were cheaper to buy secondhand than right now so that’s an option of sorts.
