Exclude input/output from OB master track

Is there a way I can setup Syntakt in OB so that one track is the master track with all tracks and effects except for the inputs? So that I can add another track that’s just inputs (FX not necessarily needed on these). I dabbled with the routing within ST but couldn’t find the inputs.

Can’t test it right now, but I think you want Audio Routing > To Main, and then deselect “FX” via the FX button.

Yes, it should be possible to exclude the FX track from the main mix.

Thanks, but this is confusing. The problem is not the FX track.

Maybe I can state clearer what my goal is:

  1. I want one stereo track in Ableton that’s playing back basically the same as Syntakt’s left and right output or master track, meaning all of the Syntakt’s internal tracks with FX. I would just select ST master (OB) as source.
  2. I want Syntakt’s inputs to be excluded from this track. If it was, I could just set up another track that only plays back ST inputs without effects. I know how to do this part (ST input within OB), but it‘s worthless if the inputs are also fed to the first track.

Sorry, misread; no, I don’t think it’s possible to exclude external inputs from main/Master. If you’re not using the FX track, you could route input to FX track, which you could in turn exclude from main/Master. I think re-routing the audio ins physically might be the most straightforward approach, or else recording two takes.

Thanks. This is so frustrating about OB, it could be so extremely useful if there was a better workaround to work with FX. The reason I‘m using ST inputs instead of my interface is that there will always be noticeable latency between USB audio from OB and the physical inputs of the interface. Sounds like it might be time to ditch OB altogether again and connect ST and my second synth of choice to my interface again.
