Erica Synths PĒRKONS HD-01

I’m on exactly the same websites and thinking exactly the same thoughts as you mate!

Build a drum machine, hey?

Indeed! My mate is also pretty GASsed up for this module and he’s got a respectable skiff already.

A 14HP rack just for this?

Add euro 2 line.
Bout 4 hp +

Edit: only if you have a cv sequencer or anything else to drive it.

I think you either get on with modular or not. I did have a drum/rhythm based eurorack skiff for a while, but I struggled to get on with it. One of the great things about hardware is the interactions with them, and the OG Perkons is just really luxurious with having all that exposed control to get inside of a groove and jam and flow. I think if you’ve already got that flow down with other kit, and just want to sonic sound of the Perkons, these modules look ace. I just know if I bought a small modular setup with a few of these in, I wouldn’t get the same type of results from the dedicated box.

I was thinking the op-xy

what! didn’t realize this because I was ignoring the demos, seeing as I already have the HD-01. Very cool!

I’m on the same page - had the OXI One but it just did’t feel good to me - awesome features but didn’t feel clunky/clunky enough and the screen had restricted view.

Im experimenting with a shelf system in the studio and a Perkons jam showed up!

Hey everyone, hope you’re doing well. I had the pleasure of checking out the new Erica Synths Module Perkons Voice. As you know, I’m a big fan and heavy user of the big Perkons, so I’m glad to be able to show you what the module has to offer. It conveniently gives us access to all the wondrous Perkons HD-01 sounds but in 1/16th the size. Hope you enjoy the run down!

you mean a hard case? I bought the bag Erica sells and a clear top. it’s pretty great… and holds other stuff too. But it is a soft bag, not a hard case for air travel, etc.

Ah, cool - yeah, I found a Pelican case for mine. :+1:

I use the official ES messenger bag like @JeffCrossSF , but Thomann sells a hard case for the Syntrx that I assume will work for the Perkons as well:

Industrial improvisation - alongside the classic BOSS KM-60 mixer adding nitty gritty saturation to significant distortion.

KM-60 FX sends used for Strymon Big Sky for Perkons channels 2 and 3.
Audioreactive Structure node used for visuals.

hi everyone! considering buying a perkons. wondering 2 things:

  1. what about the new sample import feature. can you get a ‘normal’ snare in it this way? does it mean sacrificing the hi hat engine? any experiences with it?

  2. can you send start / stop to the perkons via midi and clock sync *(perkons as slave)? this is essential for me to record it in a daw.

thanks in advance!

Hi.

I haven’t updated to the new fw yet so someone else has to answer the sample question.

Yes you can slave the Perkons. I have had it to receive clock from Torso T1 and OT. Also use it in my hybrid set up in the studio, analog clock from Ableton over Erm multi clock. It never skips a beat.

You can also sequence the individual track from an external sequencer or mix internal/external.

Hope it helps you in your decision

Hi there,

  1. Yes you can import 3 (fairly short) samples. You only give up 1 of the 3 available sound sources on the hi hat channel, which is the rompler voices 1, 2, and 3. The other two voices on that channel are still three good synthesis hi hat engines and a noise/tone drum. So you don’t lose all the hats, only the sample hat voices which you temporarily overwrite.

You can parameter lock the hell out of the voice and get your snare sample and hats on the same channel. No problem.

There is already a really good 808-style snare algorithm on channel 3 fyi.

  1. Yes, I run mine slaved to the Digitone via Overbridge clock when recording into DAW.

Hi all,

More UK old school techno / house / rave tracks with Perkons as the main drum tracks!
