So I was jamming around with Analog Rytm only in the kitchen of my new house with no monitors (just a bose mini speaker) and I received an enormous compliment from my 15 year old son.
I was demoing him some of the AR features and just showing off a little - the sound was filling the whole house even on a low volume perhaps helped by the acoustics of room and the high ceilings.
I had the BD, and snare muted and was just building up some bassline, pad sounds and hh’s… when I felt the moment was right I unmuted the BD and my boy gave me a look of pride and bobbed his head. He then proceeded to say:
“Dad your club vibes are hot.”
I didn’t have a proper response as my teenage son is usually my most critical audience. His rebellious gangster rap + indie angsty rock phase puts him in a totally different mindset from me musically.
He then proceeded to say,
“I’m digging your new sound. It sounds more professional. Your beats are as good as so-and-so and his beats are bangin.”
Anyways, you might think “Why is this a huge compliment ?”. Though they may not have seasoned musical taste and the honed ears of a audiophile, teens are what drive music. They party to it, dance to it, make it in their garage, and I’m stoked I could impress.
I think I’ll make a mixtape.
Thanks Elektron!
