Endorphin.es Evil Pet

So tempted…PC has them in stock…augh.

Trying to come up with a good reason not to buy this thing

well, “pet” also means “a cigarette butt” in slang Polish. Just sayin’

I watched loopop… Don’t get me wrong, but this seems like a fairly typical take on granular? Nothing wrong with that at all, but I’m thinking if there’s something I’m missing.

Like if this was a synth, it’d have square, saw and triangle and a ladder filter - but no waveshaping

Maybe Tonverk will get more granular features?

seems like the feedback is included in the randomization, wish there was a setting to disable things you don’t want to randomize.

Except when it comes to Elektron gear, I’m not nearly as impulsive as I once was. That said, I just pulled the trigger on the Evil Pet. I just hear too many great use cases for my music

That was my first thought as well! That said, I caved and ordered one

From what I’ve seen, there are in the menu that you can had on top of the samples. Loopop calls it a Granular Synth.

This looks super cool…didn’t expect to find a new device I’m interested in today.

Is it clear how much space is on the included micro-SD card for storing samples?

Is it a microcosm killer?

Nice feature set and I don’t even really like granular but this makes it look enticing, I’ll put this on my huge shopping list.

Imo everything that can sample should include an FM radio.

First the OP-1, then the Polyend Tracker, and now this.

Took a shot at this, I’ve never been able to really decide how I feel about granular and this is a minimal loss situation. Ableton’s Granulator can be pretty good but I don’t have any hands on controller for it, I love some of those GR Mega videos posted in that thread but they aren’t going to be available in store any time soon and my days of paying a chunk up front and waiting with crossed fingers are over.

Granular delays (or the many Chase Bliss micro looper type things)… pretty much always sound like garbage to me and the delay bits I hear here are no different. It’s up there with shimmer reverb in terms of things I just viscerally hate.

My thoughts as well. Coming from eurorack, it’s nice to see a granular device with a screen, which is my biggest gripe with the eurorack granular modules I have. Using an awesome module like the Multigrain is so frustrating without a screen. But other than that, this does seem a bit vanilla compared to what’s out there in 2025. Nice price point though.

It’ll be interesting to see how it goes, even if the switch to digital radio means we’ll lose a lot of content.
It’d be great if it could also pick up lf and mf.

Yeah, exactly this.

But also I’m trying to be fair, I think some granular stuff outpunches the specs, it just sounds great. And this does seem to.

hearing the sax through it made me want to hear someone singing through it

I’m going to make you sorry you said that
