Regarding the sampler module. Are the samples loaded into RAM? How’s the latency?
Any advice on how to create sequenced effect chains like Illformed Glitch 2 VST on Zoia (no euroburo)?
https://illformed.com/
Thanks, there are a few examples on Patchstorage but I ended up mapping the laptop keyboard and it worked well so I can keep my Zoia for effects!
Does anyone know if you can feed the delay into itself?
I want to make a tape echo loop to make dub (where they send the wet tape delay back into itself using a mixer).
Basically what I thought was Input L > Delay > Output L (and Output R to the mixer) > cable to Input R > same Delay (> Output R to mixer).
Is this possible with the Zoia? Do I even need to use a cable or can I route the signal internally?
EDIT: I don’t have a Zoia (yet), this would be a criteria for buying one.
I’d have a look on patch storage website for patches that might suit
Or possibly a Reddit / discord area ( last time I googled zoia patches a few areas popped up )
I bought one last week but haven’t messed with it yet. I’m assuming it can do it all digitally if setup …
If it’s only dub style delays there are cheaper pedals but likely not as flexible.
Sure ! Internally, with whatever you want in the feedback loop.
For a dub delay I’d use a resonant bandpass filter modulated by an lfo, overdrive, à la Ohmboys plugin…
You can use feedback with anything having an input and output, for instance a reverb, add pitch in the feedback loop to make a shimmer reverb…or an osc output to its fm input…
oh yes, this is very possible with zoia. my whole thing with it is recreating a dub fx mixer with many sends and full mixer channel returns where everything can be sent to anything else and itself
it all happens internally and it’s very easy to setup with many possibilities
Thanks!
My mixer unfortunately doesn’t really have AUX send (Zoom L12), so I’m trying to find creative ways to get around that w/o having to buy another mixer.
Sure, this kind of stuff is possible with ZOIA internally.
I have mine on the table as I’m writing this. It’s a great tool, that requires some time. But if you want to try out specific things, therearen’t many devices like it.
To me, it’s the Octatrack of guitar pedals
A sampler/sequencer guide
Ahhhh! A few moments later…
I sold it but good news. May come back to Zoia with Euroburo…
So what does this mean? Asking for a friend. Who watched the videos and read the manual and still says they don’t get it.
Can I like launch four streaming loops, all of them several minutes long, and run them through onboard Zoia effects?
Or can I at least launch one loop, run it through an effect or something, resample the result and stuff?
Asking for a friend who wonders if he can replicate his Chase Bliss workflow with this new addition to the Zoia now
You can, but i think you Will pretty quickly hit the CPU limits.
Does anyone know How much cpu a sampler instance takes up?
I dont have it but in Cuckoos video the three sequenced drum playback @18min is around 38%. @23min seem like single sample playback aroung 17%. @38min cpu peaks at 45% with reverb on sample playback AND line in when he “jams” and overdubs.
Any Zoia users here know if Zoia parameters. can be mapped to an external midi controller(Faderfox EC4)?? Is there a midi learn feature or list of CC’s?
Did you type in ‘empress zoia midi cc’ to google ?
https://www.reddit.com/r/ZOIA/comments/oz5szq/zoia_midi_cc_list/
I don’t use Google.
Yes you can…you go to a parameter you want to address with CC, then “star” the parameter, now it shows up in a CC assignment list. There you can either use MIDI learn, or define a CC number.
This means a whole lot for CBA fans It got me a lot more excited than the MOVE release!
You can launch 4 streaming loops…the number of FX you can put on top will be limited though.
(I just read that the sampler now supports mono operation as well…that wasn’t possible before, so maybe this allows to save some CPU)
However, I want to highlight a feature that I don’t think many other samplers have.
You can punch-in record over a sample. This allows you to create a “container” sample…meaning a silent sample of any length you like…and THEN record into it. I guess you could recreate CBA habit and things like that. Cuckoo shows some of that in his video.
perfect! Thanks so much SonWu. Always appreciate your help!
