Elon Musk knows how to make fans- not of his music, but as his person.
The song was not great- but that’s probably the best for his purposes.
I can’t help but respect him for making and releasing the track. I’d probably be a bit jilted, irrationally so, if the track was super good.
He certainly knows how to market himself.

I don’t get all the negativity, and the smug Guardian should point the finger at itself.
If one of us would release/share a track here I don’t think we’d give the same reaction, regardless of how it would sound.
I think it is mad cool that a guy who the media tries to portray somewhere between barely human and superhuman makes himself vulnerable like that and shows his regular 24-hours-in-a-day human side by releasing home made music.
He’s a 1%er.
Bland obvious music by numbers but if he enjoys it more power to him.
I suppose but also being extremely famous and trying to use that to push your music opens yourself up to more criticism. Its not like he was just posting it to a forum or operating under a pseudonym, he was using his fame to promote his potentially questionable music. I guess I kind of see both sides of it, he could have easily paid a producer to make a track for him and it’s cool he is actually interested in making music but maybe dont tweet it out to the world until it is fully baked.
I highly doubt hes taking this very seriously or any more seriously than someone with a full life who doesn’t expect anything to come from it. He probably joined Grimes in the studio and just tinkered away. It’s kind of cute, tbh. Good for him.
Musk could release the cure for cancer and the ultimate solution to global warming on the same day and people would still sneer and shit on him. Good for him, I hope he keeps making music if he enjoys it!
