I cant seem to get the ‘midi thru’ on MM to work…? There doesn’t appear to be any info in the manual to do with ‘midi thru’. My previous experience would tell me that its just a matter of activating it - if that. I have a rack synth connected to the ‘out’ of MM, and I would like to connect the ‘thru’ to the ‘in’ of a 505.
The MIDI data that is output from the MIDI Thru port should be an exact reproduction of what is going into the MIDI In port.
What instruments do you have connected to the MM? What are you trying to do?[/quote]
Ok so I should probably switch around the connections? To have something coming into MM as well?
I’m trying to set MM as master, sending midi out to an xoxrack and
controlling (essentially just start/stop/tempo sync) a TR 505, which then sends midi out to an MFB 522.
Right so I have a thru box now, but I haven’t figured out how to only sequence the xOx from the MM midi sequencer?
Say I have the xOx on channel 12, the corresponding midi channel/track on MM will still affect both drum machines? (Even though they might be set to receive midi on channels 10 and 11)
I would like to use the internal sequencers on the drum machines, and therefor I don’t even need to dedicate channels to them on the MM.
I’m a little confused by your post because it is not clear what you have tried already and whether you are making statements or asking questions.
If you want to use the internal sequencers on the TR505 and MFB, make sure that neither the MM’s internal sequencer MIDI channels (listed in the MM’s GLOBAL > CONTROL > MIDI CHANNELS) nor the MM’s MIDI sequencer channels (listed in the MM’s GLOBAL > MIDI SEQ > MIDISEQ SET menu) correspond to any channels that you have set on the TR505 and MFB.
You should probably:deactivate the MM’s GLOBAL > CONTROL > MIDI CHANNELS > BASE CHANNEL settingto make life simpler for yourself.
