I am new to the Elektron world and have been coming here for info. What surprises me is that while looking for info on techniques and such, I encounter so many threads of complaining and what not about what these machines CAN’T do. How about what they can do, holy cow! I understand it’s tough to come across a stumbling block in your workflow, but this happens all the time. It’s takin me years to just get all the midi bugs out of my very complicated system, sometimes it’s taken years for a company to update something that finally sorts it out. Meanwhile I’ve always put my heart into my music utilizing what my gear CAN do, and using work arounds if needed…
These Elektron boxes can do amazing things that nothing else can do, Yay!!
My toaster isn’t quantitized to Start exactly when my I start making coffee, but that’s never really stopped me from enjoying coffee and toast.
It would be nice to see a community of users that appreciates what they have, which are machines that can do things nothing else can, but they don’t do everything. We can use this gear to make absolutely out of this world music that nobody’s ever heard before, that’s good enough for me. For those who like to bitch and moan on these forums all the time, I totally respect you and don’t want to offend you, but, why did you even buy one of these things?
Anyway, I love life, music, and community and my prayers go out to all to end the stress and make some good vibin music.

Couldn’t agree more! I have fun with the speculation stuff, but the complaining is getting to be a bit much. Again, legitimate feature requests, and bug reports etc, cool. It’s the sense of entitlement that bothers me. People think the more you spend on a item the more entitled you are, and this is just not true. I’m just enjoying my RYTM so much right now bugs and all. Already missing my Octatrack, even though there is no MK2 with over bridge, and generally gassing for an A4. Elektron must be doing something right.
I really don’t understand how it changed so dramatically. It’s so weird, it should just be all the same peeps right? Uh Oh, this is starting to sound like complaining haha!!!

Yeah, the negativity can be a drag. But I think people have legit grievances when they’ve paid a premium price, and get silence in return. Elektron could easily put a tracking system in place and hire a gimp to do nothing but answer emails and status updates. Blowing rainbows out your ass and pretending that we’re all in love doesn’t do…well, see, now I’m being negative! Group hug! 
I think people come on here to complain because they feel that they’ve been blown off by Elektron, and are frustrated by the lack of simple return communication from Elektron.
Elektron makes amazing hardware, but the truth is that they suck at keeping these brush fires from starting in the first place. Once in a while somebody from Elektron will pop in on the forum and give a vague two sentence update that pretty much amounts to “Yeah yeah, we hear you. Now, carry on.”
I think Elektron was able to play the mysterious minimalist role for a long long time. But now that they’re getting so many new users with the new products, I think they need to adapt their communications to help manage customer expectations. But I doubt they will.
I worked at company, about the size of Elektron, that sells luxury goods, and at any time a customer could call and get status updates on their returned/ordered items, right then. There was no waiting, and there certainly was no lack of communication. I personally don’t understand how a ‘smart’ company, in today’s world of computers, could not have a rock solid system for tracking these things. When I read about people who wait months to hear back from Elektron, it blows my mind to be honest.
Like many here , I am sick of all the negative comments daily, and also like many here I have sympathy/empathy with a lot of the issues. We all know by now what Elektron is good at, and what they are not good at, so my idea (stolen from Gearslutz) would be to open a new sub forum for bitching and moaning. With a little help from Google, the Swedish for “sad” is “sorgsen”, so maybe we could have a Sorgsen Board!!

My manual has been very helpful, and I don’t find these machines as complicated as people make them out to be. Only have had for about a week but already doing very tricky complicated stuff I didn’t even consider doing before that comes out very musically rewarding. I came to Elektronauts to just see what’s going on and maybe pick up some ideas about the many possibilities … Anyway no disrespect to anyone I just was a little shocked at the general vibe.

Elektron’s branding and marketing has always had a bit of a hyper-macho “dudebro” feel (even though they seem to have toned that down a bit lately with the AK and RYTM). This does invite a certain type of attitude, which does leak into the general tone on a forum like this, especially since it’s run by and closely tied to the company.

This custom forum web app kinda sucks. It looks sexy, but loading is slow, there’s hardly any caching, it’s hard to use on a mobile device, etc. When you compose a reply you can no longer reference the thread unless you’ve opened it in a separate thread first. This makes it more likely for users to reply to what the think was said instead of going back and re-reading what was written.

It’s funny to imagine such a thing with more “traditional” instruments like a guitar.
Take these instruments at face value and you’ll be fine, no unmet expectations.
Really, what expectations have been unmet? It’s not like they promised the Octatrack would make the music for you, or lied about the file structure or the format, people just wanted it to be magical and sound like the guy in the ads.

Off Topic: Disagree completely. I don’t ever recall Elektron ever having a “hyper-macho dude-bro” feel to their marketing. They’ve always had a somewhat quirky, retro, dare I say hipster flare.
On Topic: I share the same sentiment as many posted here, I do miss the EU vibe greatly, but I chalk it up to growing pains. Elektron has seen a massive surge in popularity and adoption of their products, I believe I can correctly apply the term of mo’ people mo’ problems here. Not to mention lets be honest, Elektron’s support hasn’t been too thrilling these days, that coupled with the increased userbase will lead to rampant rants and bitchfestivals of many kinds.
