Greetings.
Figuring out the most practical way of working with these three machines in a live performance set up.
My setup is the basic one I have read many people use:
On OT:
I use channels 1-4 for OT samples.
On 5&6 I run the MNM and MD on two thru channels.
Channel 7 is ‘transition track’.
Channel and 8 is master.
OT is master clock and is also the master pattern selector of the MD and MNM.
Just interested to know if I am getting the most out of all three machines working in this way?.. also if anyone has any tips on how to get the most from this setup in a live scenario, that would be brilliant:)
I like pretty heavy repetitive loopy techno, if that makes any difference;)
Cheers!
i run a fairly similar setup. makes perfect sense to me, though i’ve gone back and forth about using t5/6 thru tracks for the mnm/md, primarily because i find i can get what i want done using the dir approach, without sacrificing two ot tracks.
tbh i’d probably feel more need to use ot thru machine effects to process the silver instruments if i hadn’t spent so much time already working with their internal features (buses, ctr machines, etc.) to get them sounding more or less the way i want, or if the ot had more inputs.
speaking of effects, i often find myself using the dj eq and compressor on the t8 master track – the latter for a bit of glue on the mix and mapping the former to the xfader for classic drama. might give that a try if you haven’t explored them.
I never thanked you for these tips dubathonic.
You are a tremendous help!
