Seems like a busted pad rather than a firmware issue. Contact Elektron support and send a link to the video. Best of luck!
Edit: I have the same machine in black and the same firmware and I don’t have this issue btw. Also, welcome to the forum
No, the pad is working properly, and it worked on the previous firmware, that’s why I’m asking for firmware below 1.60
How did you have the previous firmware on the black model? Mine shipped with 1.60.
Hmm, so either I don’t remember something, or something else. in any case, as soon as rytm came, everything worked 100%, and only after reinstalling the firmware, the pad stopped working in two modes. if the problem was in the pad, then why does it work properly in other modes besides mute and scne?
You may well be right about it being a firmware issue or a bug. But in any case the best thing to do is to raise a support ticket and see what the experts say. They may advise downgrading while they fix it and can send you the official firmware for that. You could also reinstall it again in case something went wrong when it first reinstalled?
I wrote to them, they offered to send it to them. But I really don’t want to wait that long ![]()
You have to ask Elektron for any firmwares - people sharing firmwares out of Elektron’s hands breaks all version control / authenticity over what they can guarantee will work. So rather than asking here, ask there, they probably won’t advocate a downgrade imo, but who knows - in any case you need to raise a support ticket after running the self test mode from the early startup menu, see pdf - see what they advise
do the test/video without any midi device/ usb cable connected in the extremely slim chance there’s some weird midi plumbing issue messing with the mute state
Also, if there is a faulty pad and you recently bought it, you can probably exchange it with your retailer, and that’ll be much faster than a repair.
…err so what Firmware did you Upgrade? Why?
Btw craig: You can see the black finish in this video very good. It is completely missing the roughness… WHY… even the model have a rough finish and are plastic (the AR mk2 is plastic too, right?)
Aye, I own one now
(It’s a metal case btw)
In fact, just to be on the latest version
so why in god’s name didn’t Elektron make it rough like the Digis?
It would be the same as the grey mk2 just a different colour…
the greys also have a smoother finish… it actually feels nicer than the digi imo
Can’t you take it back to the shop you bought it from?
yeah but that is also different than the MK2… this is too shiny. The OT MK2 is less shiny. So now we have three different surface finishes. Four with the Model series. I guess they are trying this out. Actually five when the grey MK2s were also smoother…
I’m not sure, but it looks the same to me just different colour.
The Octatrack mk2 is different more Like the digis
totally not like the digis!! I have my Digitone right next to me … the OTMK2 is lacquered a bit shiny and flat and the digis have a matte rough finish – for me more like the opposite.
Yeah I just had a look you are right it’s a different glossy paint on the Octatrack mk2…
I still think the black mk2 look the same smooth finish as grey analogs just different colour…
It didn’t look shiny to me I would have to see in person
We’re going well off topic here. But I’ve owned both the Digis and the finish is nice but nothing to write home about. The black Analogs absolutely scream premium compared to them. Honestly, just go and view one of them in person. Gorgeous instruments!
