Elektron rytm mk2 midi question

Hi I am trying to send samples from rytm mk2 to machinedrum thru midi, seems to be impossible, I go to sysex dump, sysex send then sound, and all I see is 128 sounds but they are blank and go nowhere, what am I doing wrong?

For the AR, a Sound contains the settings of the various parameters of a drum sound. The MD machines use different parameters, and so there is no possibility for the MD to interpret a SysEx file sent from an AR.

Thank you for your answer, oh man I wish I could send samples from +drive of rytm to my beloved machinedrum thru midi, is there some kind of hardware limitation or is it something that is possible in the future because rytm can receive sample from machinedrum but I guess can’t send them back :*(

I’m not sure about current mk2 status, but for MK1 there’s no ability to send samples at all

if transfer works in this regard for the Mk2, then you’d probably be able to send samples (quite distinct from sounds btw) by MIDI SDS as you can the other way around

if the MK2 can do this I’d test the water with Transfer first and then see about hooking two units up

keep in mind that factory samples cannot be transmitted, only stuff you’ve uploaded/sampled

look for options to send on the +drive, rather than through MIDI menus - but I’m guessing in any case - feedback from DT users would also likely apply here fwiw

Thank you for your reply, I’ve tried looking for some kind of midi options inside of sample section of rytm mk2 but could not find anything, however I found something that does not seem right, when u press right arrow inside of a sample folder you are presented with this menu

Then if you click sel for move this blank window comes up
It’s just a blank window, not sure if this is how things should look, I doubt that this helps me with my midi sample transfer situation, just some kind of glitch I found along the way I guess.
Anyway…It’s kind of wierd that the sample transfer thru midi only works one way, I can easily send samples from machinedrum to rytm mk2 here is a pic

The reason why I want to do this is because rytm mk2 can’t sample prefect loops like machinedrum and octatrack can using trig record method, since octatrack is lacking midi dump i am using my good old machinedrum to do this, so my work flow is going to be like this, make patterns on rytm mk2, sample them with machinedrum and send them back to rytm mk2 or play them on the machinedrum itself. However yestoday I had idea of transferring my one shots from rytm mk2 to the machinedrum since rytm mk2 sampling part is perfect for one shots and I have a ton of them on the rytm mk2, I know I can use computer to send samples to my machine drum but I am looking for more hardware forward workflows skipping the computer as much as possible.
Also since machinedrum cant save sounds I was thinking of sampling them with rytm mk2 and sending them back as samples.( Because Editing One Shots On Mk2 Is Easy)

Dear elektron, please make it possible to send sample out of rytm mk2 thru midi, it’s a great machine and it needs this feature, specially because of its sampling capabilities.

Sidenote- I am not taking off the screen protector off the rytm mk2 until I get the deck saver, as you can see by the pictures the screen protector on mk2 already saved my ass one time

Thank you for your reply, this is kind of confusing, not your reply but the flaw of this midi transfer, I am just trying to figure out then what drum sound is sound 01 what drum sound is sound is 02 etc… since they are all by number and not names makes it kind of confusing. I do have another rytm that I have many sounds presets saved on and at some point I want to send these presets across all my rytms, I guess I’ll just have to do it by banks and send all the presets of bank a,b,c etc in big packs, no problems with that but it whould be cool to easily send individual sound presets across my rytms
Ohhh I think I get it, so 01 is KLAS, 02 is QUCK etc…didn’t try this since I only have 1 rytm with me at the moment and can’t experiment but hopefully that is how it works.
