I really like this initiative but I don’t understand why one should pays for something promoted by Elektron itself

It’s true. Elektron should pay for my flight over and cab there m8. My fookn hotel too.

Not those

P.S.
are you serious?

lol heavens no, are you?

I think your idea is equally absurd m8.

It could be quite absurd yes, but I prefer to think it is not.

I accept fully that there costs (trainers and venues HAVE to be paid, of course)

But Marketing costs…

…and please: put me out-of-my-beliefs. I like different point-of-views.

Sorry all for my OffTopic. I finish here

You’re right, there is certainly a precedent for this in other industries as a promotional, marketing and user support tool, i.e., both Canon and Nikon run occasional free workshops for their higher end gear, so why not music gear manufacturers? Imo, it’s a no brainer, for just a few hundred pounds they get to meet and strengthen their ties with the most committed of their user base face to face, plus take on product development ideas. Tom Peters and Seth Godin would surely agree.

I think most people would be amazed at how small a company Nikon is. Sure, Canon are an enormous entity, but the principles hold true regardless of scale.
I’m coming at this from the angle of sound business sense rather than consumer greed. If you knew me then you would know that I am the opposite of what you describe.

I’m surprised by how many people here just don’t get innovative entrepreneurial practice.

It’s like you’re stuck in the 80s with Mitt Romney and Ronald Reagan.

Thankfully Elektron doesn’t think this way. It’s through their commitment to innovation in both design and marketing that we have these little boxes.

Agreed, the modern understanding of sustainable business can see a long-term approach to investment rather than just short-term budgets.

You can look at it as part of the marketing budget.

By improving the quality of how consumers use a product … the product and therefore the company get an improved market mind-share.

Its like healthcare … you save money by investing in preventative medicine and educational programs … and save money in the hospitals etc.
The same with welfare … help people to help themselves rather than only seeing the short-term costs of whatever you are spending.

Its a simple approach to understanding the bigger picture of sustainability that old-school business often ignores.

There seems to be a little bit of misunderstanding here. This event is not an official Elektron event.

That said, if third parties arrange trainings for our products, we believe it’s a good thing regardless of if it’s a free or paid event.

To me … this is an important part of what makes Elektron good.

My bad - no one deserves such criticism… mind you, you might be surprised at the wide range of people who get up on here - I’m sure there are many who get the whole elephant motif thing and think fondly about sitting on Mitt’s trunk.

It was a misunderstanding - I had thought it was an Elektron gig; if it was I’d stand by my little opinion word for word.

This makes a difference.
And I would pay if interested.

The misunderstanding arises since the FB event is described as “officially promoted by Elektron”.

And this (hoping I am making a comprehension error) sounds to me like something not true, isn’t it?

No, it’s not officially endorsed by Elektron, but it may be endorsed by our italian distributor. We’ll look into this.

OK cool :+1:

And yeah - I would see the point, and probably not be so disparaging, if it were about Elektron charging for a large group event like that too! Although, that is still completely within their rights to do - regardless of how right or wrong we might think it it![/quote]
No misunderstanding here … I knew it wasnt anything Elektron.

My points stand … short term balancing of the books shows a lack of understanding about good business.

Anyone defending Reaganomics is not someone I respect.
