I just bought this one and soon realised I cannot record a true unquantized live recording. if I press keys fast in unquantize mode, it will still place it on some kind of grid. Does anyone know if its possible to truly record unquantized live?

Don’t have a Samples, but I have a Cycles (same sequencer). Have you checked your quantisation settings? Might have global quantisation switched on or something.
if you try to record too much activity within one step ‘window’, you’ll only capture one event
16 ‘windows’ per page = 16 events Max … if you record a flurry of notes, you’re not going to get a linear capture of those, this is a step sequencer with bandwidth on the step position, but still only sixteen potential places
Thanks. this explains it. a pitty. i wished there was a workaround. so then what is exactly possible with the unquantize setting? slight off-grid notes only?
Yes indeed.
Only one note per step, like most of step sequencers.
What you can do is use the 64 steps at x4 speed to have a more precise capture of your input.
