Elektron Interview Request: Objekt

I recently discovered Objekt thanks to his latest release, “Flatland”, and it’s one of the best records I’ve heard in a while. I’m really digging his clean, precise, and moving sound.

I’ve seen him mention using a Machinedrum in some interviews, and also noticed one in a studio pic on his FB page. I’d be interested in learning more about how the MD or other Elektron gear fits into his sound.

Here’s a short and sweet track I’ve really been enjoying lately:

I think he won’t do that, since he is working for Native Instruments

I didn’t think he was working for NI full time these days based on some things I’d read, and I don’t see how it would be a conflict of interest even if he was, unless NI requires people to only talk about and use their stuff.

I couldn’t find a pic with elektron gear and expected him to use Maschine… can you post a pic?

What’s that in front of the monitor?
Some kind of oscilloscope?
Would love to see this. Big Objekt fan.
An interview from 2013:

“The A-side of the new one started out as a hardware jam, but you’d never be able to tell. It started out as a Machinedrum and a 606, and sounded quite different to how it ended up. But the fact that I could get that sketched out so quickly initially was a great starting point.”

Ta.
Hadn’t noticed that he was poking around a PCB (presumably a 606 judging by the shell on the desk).

thank you to let me rediscover this artist

Thanks for the suggestion. I will forward this request to the appropriate person, maybe they can look into it.

Thanks for sharing, great song. Love short songs. Will look further into his music.

Cool, hopefully something comes of it.
Speaking of which, I posted a similar thread a few months ago about The Haxan Cloak, who has been using the OT both on record and in his live sets. He’s currently working with Bjork on her new album, so it might also be worth making contact with him to learn how the Octatrack affects his creative process.

Just curious if this ever went anywhere. Really loving this guy’s work.
Also, his attention to sound design and the mix of really clean production with some serious embrace of noise really appeals to me. Any other artists you guys recommend that are in a similar vein?

You might want to check out Call Super’s “Suzi Ecto” LP. Also, on a slightly different note, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mIy71QLMP8.

Ganzfeld is an incredible tune…
