Editing without piano roll

I really rate the old Roland linear midi sequencers like mc50. Kind of like a timeline sequencer and suprisingly fast once you ge the hang of it. Shame people don’t make anything like that anymore

My main question remains Editing without piano roll if its really practical.
Tp me seems very tedious and impractical, but may be things I didn t take into consideration.

It is tedious! And it will stay like that. It is a different way of composing your tracks and will lead to different results compared to a traditional piano roll.

I kind of hate it and like it at the same time. I really wish I had more visual cues but at the same time, I’m grateful that I can do everything in one box without being overwhelmed by visual feedback which let’s me concentrate on the sound more easily.

I would be very grateful to get a visual feedback in the form of an app (desktop, phone, or web) that lets me see all my DT2 tracks in a piano-roll timeline. (I have already requested it).

To be fair, editing chords has become much easier on the new Digis:

And you can jump directly to the next chord (active trig) using the cursor buttons. So, there we have it, our tiny piano roll.

I agree, it’s a big improvement. Not as good looking as a piano roll though.
