Next week I’ll be in Dublin for a long weekend with my favourite travel partner, the missus!

Is there anything we should really do or see?
Any tips?
Things to avoid?
And are there parties/gigs/venues we could visit?

We’ll be there between the 20th and 25th!

I don’t live in the city center but I do live pretty close by and I go out in Dublin most weekends. Really depends on what you’re looking for. It’s St. Patrick’s day and a bank holiday today so might be a bit quieter next weekend but should still be something going on. What kind of music, entertainment etc are you interested in ? I presume you like electronic music of some type ??

Hey! We like all sorts of music, God is an Astronauts is playing on saturday, we might try that or a place to dance! We enjoy relaxing in a bar with a nice drink as well. So far, Dublin seems to be a hard place not to have a good time

You could also have a look at the Twisted Pepper, The Workman’s Club, The Grand Social, The Sugar Club or The Button Factory. They are all venues that are pretty good and all within walking distance of each other. I think Prefuse 73 is playing in the Sugar Club that weekend

Stick in the dates on the right hand side and you should be able to find something you like.

Dublin is quite small. You can easily get about to see most things in a day (two max). All the museums, restaurants, bars etc are all pretty central and close by and the rest is mostly accessible by bus or tram. It’s easy enough to find good food and bars. Temple Bar area is a good place to start for that kind of thing though.

Definitely go to some museums. The National Gallery and the National Museum of Ireland can be found in and around Kildare Street and Nassau Street. Have a walk through Trinity College if it’s a nice day and both museums are very close by.

Have pints of Guinness in a good Guinness pub (entirely different thing from just a good pub). I recommend J. Grogan’s of William Street and here’s a list of other places you could try

Thanks a lot for the links and tips!! We’re dutch, flying in from The Netherlands Thursday evening.

We like walking around and we have plenty of time to explore the museums and other sightings. I already had the Hugh Lane, museum of modern art and national museum on my list! Also we’re going to do the most obvious tourist attractions like the Jameson distillery, Guinness brewery and stare at cathedrals.

We’ll go to either Prefuse73 or the OKO release party on Friday. We booked a day trip out to to Wicklow for Monday and will be in and out of museums and pubs having a good time all weekend. Thanks again for the links, maybe we’ll see you at the Block-T venue and we can buy you a beer or two, three…

Temple Bar is an area moreso for tourists, worth a walkabout, but if you want to settle down for a nice pint, go where the locals go eg Stags Head, Kehoes, Grogans, Long Haul etc.

For food try Fade Street Social on Fade Street, decent pubs and restaurants all around that area of William Street/Clarendon Street/Drury Street/Georges Street. Best to walk around a bit as it is all very close together.

Head up to Camden Street/Wexford Street for later at night, or Bruxelles has a late bar.

Cool ! Looks like you’re well sorted for good things to do.

Wicklow is beautiful. Amazing valleys and lakes.
I live on the Wicklow-Dublin border. A seaside town called Bray.
Glendalough is a great place to see if you’re in Wicklow for the day.

Not sure what I’m going to do this weekend. I just got back from a weekend in Barcelona myself. Had a big surprise birthday for a friend. I might be keeping it quiet this weekend.

If you do decide to go to the OKO party, remember that it’s a Bring Your Own Booze event so there won’t be any bar there. You will need to pick up some drinks before 10pm that will last the night. Only pubs and bars can sell any alcohol after 10pm. And pubs and bars can be very expensive anyways.

Well hope you have a good time whatever you decide to do.
I really hope you get some good weather as it is usually highly irregular.
If I decide to go out this weekend I will let you know here but most likely I think I will have to give it a miss.
