Someone may have already said this, but… for the degradation/filtering, you can just p-lock or record the delay’s filter closing and the overdrive increasing throughout the pattern. One of the many awesome things about Elektron gear!
And, I love doing weird Dubby stuff on the Elektrons because you can p-lock delay time… this becomes more like Plastikman type Acid than old school Dub if you go too far, but using it subtly can be helpful.

Also an A4 owner but strangely enough I actually rely more on the Monomachine for dubby delayness. The independent delay in each track of that machine is superb imho.
See/hear what you mean now. The delay feels more static without some kind of dampening effect. I guess this is do-able with an LFO on the cutoff filter though, maybe plock on the FX sequencer, but would be far better to have it built-in…otherwise when tweaking the delay the plock will remain static. Maybe good feature request for that empty parameter slot in the delay section.
I know this is an older thread, but I find that the Delay on the a4 and rytm work well for Dub Chords. I have a hard time with the reverb. I find the reverb to be too bright. I could never get it to sound like ableton’s reverb in terms of decay and tone.
