So I have the OT and the DT and I route the DT into AB of the OT.
I noticed that when doing so the DT seems to lose it’s “power” and gets
lost in the mix when I add other tracks to it. I played around with volumes but
it doesnt seem to come through even with compression.
In this scenario I use the DT as a pure drum maschine and I want the drums to
have pressure in the mix.
Anyone else having this issue or a good way to keep presence for the DT?
INAB is a thru set to “A B”, added +15 volume to bring it up a bit.
I’m not talking about gain. I’m talking about the DT getting lost in the mix by sounding pale and lifeless. It’s just like the OT sucks out the punch and leaves just some thin line signal that gets lost between other tracks.
Do you have mixer AB dir set to zero to make sure your not getting doubled signal and phase issues?
Thru tracks definitely lower the volume and need to be boosted with anp vol maybe more than 15…
How does it sound to you when you run DT through OT but don’t have any other tracks going?

You can always try to not use a thru track and bring up the volume on the mixer instead, thru machines definitely make the DT lose it’s punch as you said. Another way could be bringing up the DIST level on the filter, it gives a lot of boost back at around 11/12 oclock.

I usually set Thru Playback page VOL to +63.
Filter Dist is interesting but I’d rather use the eq / compressor fx.
Check mixing techniques.
