DT + DN Midi clock sync query

I have a question about clock syncing. On standard tempos, 120, 110, 100 etc it’s working great but when I set values in between such as 146 tempo the receiving Digitone fluctuates from 145.9 - 146.1 constantly and inconsistently - is this normal behaviour? I can’t tell for sure if its just read out or actually ever so slightly out of sync and could cause issues the longer the project/song goes on. Have you experienced this or are my units faulty? I’ve reversed the sync, using Digitone as master and Digitakt as slave and it does the same.

changing tempo on Digitakt works but on many values between the 10s fluctuates.
To clarify it doesn’t fluctuate when using the devices independently, or if I unplug the midi cable for example.

Yes. This behaviour reflects that tiny fluctuations in the master’s tempo occasionally cause individual clock signals to fall just inside or outside the window that the slave uses to calculate a value of tempo.

Since the average tempo over time is accurate there will be no drift between the two instruments and you should experience no discernible problems in synchronization.
