DT/AR - Faking the sound of Soma Pulsar 23?

I’m thinking of getting a Pulsar 23 for the more wonky rhythmic stuff you can get out of it.

But it’s a lot of money for a very specific synth.

Do you think you can fake the Pulsar sound, wonky rhythms and interactions like in these patches with a DT/2 or AR?..

Obviously I can use Pulsar samples. But could I recreate that wonky organic feel with the Electron boxes?

I already have a DT2 and might consider trading that in for an AR if it would be a better fit for the sound I’m going for.

I don’t own any other synths… yet. But am looking at other weird drone/noise/rhythmic boxes… unless I can fake them with samples too :upside_down_face:

It’s really hard to get other things to sound like a Pulsar. It has a very unique (if slightly narrow) sound character and the experience of building and playing patches on it takes you to places other (more rigidly designed) gear just cannot reach.

Sure, you can use samples of it, I’ve done that myself, but nothing comes close to the real thing.

Adding to that the built in FX get you into some crazy territory if one wishes. It’s a beast!
