DT and DN pattern sync

yes, but there is also a way for elektron boxes to send pgm chng msgs without using any MIDI tracks at all. I am now assuming that it is precisely this method which works?

why is it called sync? I’ve never seen elektron refer that to as sync in their manuals…

I’m not sure about that. I don’t think the DT/DN have any other way of doing so.

From the DT manual

Enabling these setting on the DT allows the elektron boxes to stay in sync pattern wise

Also called midi sync in the OT and ar manuals

Im always confused when people don’t know about this but

Those sync options work for any devices that can receive/send midi clock; you don’t need to have 2 Elektron devices.

for some reason people have no clue about this. this option enables the automatic pattern changes across elektron boxes. I’ve yet to have a non elektron synth auto change patterns just from enabling this option.
If you can point me in the direction of a non elektron box that does auto pattern change in sync with the elektron boxes that would be great.

Those are just options to turn on/off midi clock being sent/received. That’s the truth. I need to set them up properly when I want to sync up the DT with any gear.

But enabling them also enabled the AUTO PATTERN CHANGES across elektron devices. Where no program change message needs to be programmed into the midi of the sequencer.

Can someone with a DT and a DN please try the menu pattern sync option only with no midi track stuff, and report the results…
Do the patterns change at the same time?

Is this feature not working and it’s what Ollie said would be fixed in the quote a few replies above?

No offense anyone, there’s just too much confusion, we need extra confirmation please…

Look at this link. It’s where I learned it.

I was the first person to reply to this thread. How can this be true? Please don’t get so defensive. I want to know the truth is all.

I don’t deny this. Just wanted to state that those sync options are needed even if you don’t use 2 Elektron devices.

We’re talking about something totally different now. We’re not talking about the DT delaying a pattern.

Ok, I guess I was just talking about the clock sync. Probably a misunderstanding. Sorry.

I’m pretty sure it just starts by sending the lowest program change # for pattern A1, and increases incrementally…
So any midi device receiving that program change will do the same, start at its first ā€œprogramā€ and increase incrementally…

yes sync is needed for other devices but it also sets up auto pattern change across elektron boxes. Which is what I have been saying. Many individuals dont seem to know that

I don’t think you guys need to go back and forth so much, your both good folks…
The forum is weird lately, nothing makes sense and there currently are no answers… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::joy:

I think the ā€œPRG CH SENDā€ function is what is being talked about (to avoid any confusion).

You’re right. My bad. Sorry @stnrp

No, that is just the setting for MIDI clock master/slave configuration. Sending or receiving clock will just either send or slave to MIDI clock (you can also do both at the same time). And in the case of DT/DN, this syncing is simplified from the other elektron boxes, as there is no way to define transport sync separately from the clock sync, in the DT\DN its all or nothing.

What I though we are talking about are the PROG CH SEND / PROG CH RECEIVE check boxes. These should work exactly as Mr. mike described above ie. selecting pattn A1 on the master will send pgm chng msg ā€001ā€, selecting pattn A2 sends ā€002ā€ and so on…

Don’t tell me yall havent read this from the manuals as I’m sure you have :diddly: It’s not an esoteric ā€secret handshakeā€, its an elektron staple feature that exists even on the analog heat - and it doesn’t even have a sequencer
