Love mine, sounds amazing and is a joy to use (once you get the grips with it). You can get some unreal sounds out of them, great as a synth too, always use mine for basslines.

I saw you were a early tr1000 adopter. You still prefer tempest ? from the music I make I know i should be able to love it and put it to great use. I am sad to hear such negatives things about tempest when in fact people like Reptant are moving so much people using it live and it sounds absolutely insane. I just need the last bit of motivation to move forward

It seems so so great. I think as a monomachine lover I fall into the category of successful people with polarizing gear and my chances to click with a tempest are pretty good. I have to admit part of my appeal to it is it’s totally badass and inspiring look ! so much more special than todays gear… I just need to make sure I will love the sound and it’s pretty difficult to be convinced by watching youtube.

I think with the current state of issues, most people are going to be frustrated. It’s new, not going anywhere anytime soon, so you ca always pick it up later. And you have the Jomox for the analog. .

Man the jomox airbase 99 almost kill the need for a real roland TR, it just sits so well. I see TR1000 more like a symbol of the promise of “ok now i have this authentic roland parc” but I don’t technically need it for my music. Tempest on the other hand seems just inspiring. I would love to hear more from you, what you like most about it etc

Nothing like the Tempest…I’ve had mine 15 years and I still love it!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roz_qOz2yig&list=RDroz_qOz2yig&start_radio=1 this guy is really killing it on the tempest. Hard to believe people saying it doesn’t have one good kick. I will give it a try myself, always been fascinated by it.

If you research what it’s good for first that’s key.
For me sound design, live playing and sound manipulation are what I like. I have built custom tuning instruments across mine cos I likes the wierd stuff.

I almost never use mine in 2025 anymore. These days when I pull it out, it’s almost exclusively for using it in 2026.

lol !

I’ve used mine in the year 2525, at least it felt that way. Maybe it was the costume……

Hi everyone ! just got my tempest and absolutely loving it ! I just noticed that the screen is completely buggy tho… When I press pad or a button it glitches (blinks and become pale / lighter for a second then goes back to normal randomly) Is that a known behavior ?

The tempest screen goes a bit glitchy when scrolling through menus quickly, but goes back to normal straight away.
What you’re describing isn’t something I’ve seen on the units I’ve used.
Maybe check or ask on the sequential forum?

No, that’s not normal; nor is it related to the screen refresh rate mentioned above.

The screen assembly can be easily replaced though.

Just contact Sequential, and they should be able to get you sorted.

Cheers!

thanks John, it seems that the issue went away by itself, odd. It works perfectly otherwise!

i love my tempest. dont wanna ever sell it! lol

even my scrubby a$$ made something decent with it bahaha. was a good month of putting my head down and trying to learn the thing. most of this vid is just the stock IDM kit tweaked to death

the rolls + reverses + touch strip just makes it super playable. way more “playable” than the rytm i found. Back then it was just too expensive for me but i picked one up for a pretty good price pre pandemic
