Drumlogue or Razzmatazz?

US. I ordered from Detroit Modular. I’ve had great experiences with them in the past but it sounds like they are doing some renovation on the website and possibly on site so communication has been fairly poor lately.
I was clearly told though that money would not be taken until product was heading to them. I’ll have to call on Tuesday to clarify if that’s the case.

My rep at Sweetwater just got back to me stating early November, but said it’s not “firm”.
Not sure why Korg can’t be a bit more open about this. They clearly told people it would be mid October as most retailers had that on their sites. Now I’m seeing much later dates on those same sites.

A bit irritating to say the least. But, I’ve been part of the manufacturing side (not music gear, outdoor gear) and I saw how in house customer reps (aka sales reps) would flat out lie to get orders and then play dumb or make excuses when products weren’t ready.

I hated it then and still do today… Normally I stay quite clear of preorders and new releases but for some reason my GAS got the better of me this time.

It could absolutely be different in the US (and I hope that’s the case). The Korg UK guys were gutted about it, having just launched it only to be told that they had no idea when they could fulfil orders.

The Drumlogue is obviously limited but i guess it’s exactly that what makes it interesting and it will sound somewhat different… anyway… is there somewhere a manual for downloading?

You can automate pitch of the operators via MIDI CC currently. The entire device listens on all MIDI channels at once, or optionally one static MIDI channel and each “pad” (drum voice) listens for a specific note. I do not think the inbuilt sequencer currently supports any automation.

I submitted a feature request to add a MIDI multi mode that would split each voice up on its own MIDI channel to open up the possibility of playing the voices chromatically.

I think this may all work out in a good way. I’m suddenly entranced with the Twisted Electron MegaFM. Hopefully the mk2 will be out very soon and that is where I will sink my money into.
Probably best to let the Drumlogue air out a bit

(The patterns you feed into the razz are really good, by the way)
It comforts me into thinking that this nanobox has a character on its own, which is something I value in new gear nowadays.

I mean, probably the Drumlogue has the potential to become something really good in the future, with its own specific sound, but, as someone stated here, it’s better not to put too much expectations into hypothetical features that might never happen.

drumlogue is a serious instrument, razzmatazz is another nice to have sonic gimmick…

besides, this question is silly in timing and nature…

and an a4 mk1 2nd hand is around 600 bux and the most versatile truu analog, timeless drummachine i ever had in use…

Yeah, OK, the timing of the question is just related to the somewhat concurrent release of these machines. There are probably countless other comparison/debate threads about all sorts of drum machines here. I was just asking about these ones in terms of what innovations each bring to the game.

(I have already considered, reconsidered and over-considered what was already on the market, believe me )

…oh, no worries and no offense…it’s just silly timing, since there are simply, as already mentioned by @apeirophobe , not really any truu users of these out there to find for now, which could give u any serious response…and silly by nature, because these two are not really comparable for the reasons i mentioned, since all they really got in common is the fact that U driven by the idea u need a new tool for groove, are nothing but teased by both of them, so fresh to the market…the latest to catch…

and i can picture u clearly, in all ur considering jungle struggle…

if u really want/need something, that let’s u create ur very own and unique grooves, the really and already bullet proofed best is already out there since ages…the a4…

My ‘issues’ with the A4 is that it’s quite big (and I like portable setups) and has this 4 track limitation - that you can overcome with multimaps, but…

And also - and this is not the right place to tell, I know - but I’ve grown a little tired of the Elektron sound. This is why the Syntakt didn’t appeal to me at all. I have spent quite some time with the AR and now I cringe when I hear that cowbell sound…

Arguably the A4 is not so sonically marked - and I still love the MD/MnM - but I’m after some new sound (hence this topic about these recent machines)

PS: If I was to get back to Elektron, I would clearly go for a Digitone.

If I input a mono input, does a stereo signal come out the line out?

In the settings menu there is a mono/stereo input setting.
If you set it to mono you will get a stereo signal.
