Hi, does anybody know of a good brand or product that makes a stand for one or two drum machines that can be used during live performances? Most keyboard stands are just too wide for a Live II or Analog Rytm unless I use the A-frame, which doesn’t quite suit my needs. I’m not too keen on the DJ tabletop type of stands either. Thank you.
There’s this. It’s heavy but solid. the table width is adjustable. I use it in the home studio.
Alesis makes this multipad mount that fits on a drum rack, you could maybe use that with a boom stand or something.
Alesis Multipad Mounting with Boom-arm
you’d probably have to make an adapter though.
I have a Roland cymbal stand and an adapter for my Nord 3P. It’s extremely solid as a platform with the legs adjusted correctly.
I saw John Cxnnor rock the shit out of a drum machine/sampler thing at ArcTanGent festival the other day, they guy was playing it wirelessly and it was mounted to a stand that he was flinging all over the place like a hardcore vocalist might do with a microphone!
Edit: Here are a coupe of screenshots from one of their live performance videos:
Look at stands for projectors, usually more suitable for drum machine/samplers, and you’ll pay less than you will for a ‘music’ stand.
Edit- ‘lectern stand’ is also worth a search… you can get some with dual/lower shelves that are handy for placing other stuff (power supplies, note pads, etc).
If it’s too wide, use a shelf.
…for single desktop devices, these do great on stage…
Gravity Laptop Stand is rock solid…
Thanks guys… just saw something Freg Again… uses. Looks custom! It’s like a mini A or Z stand with a narrow width for his MPC Live. The On Stage one looks like the best option. Oddly, there are so many drum machines and tabletop synths out there, and not one manufacturer has taken the opportunity to make specialized stands for these types of devices
