Whenever you hear a pad or a dubby chord stab that’s the Nymphes. I was running it into the Zen Delay via a send on the mixer, and those early jams kind of turned into this.
They were all recorded back in 2022 but I’ve only just got round to finishing them properly. I hope you can hear the variety across them.
I’ve since sold the Nymphes to fund an Artemis. I miss that little guys form factor and sound but won’t miss the menu!
I have and am very content with an Artemis but haven’t used Nymphes myself. How do you compare them soundwise, disregarding the mono/stereo and effects differences?
The core sound has lots of crossover between the two. They are based on the same filter sound, so they have the same base flavour, but the Artemis FM into cutoff and all the extra immediate routing with the UI lets you quickly take off into another dimension with few compromises.
One win for the Nymphes is the LFO speed, which I think sounds great and, from memory, I believe actually sounds faster, so it’s a different vibe.
The UI is everything to me. I love to modulate the filter cutoff, filter modulation amount, and the LFO rate with my hands whilst jamming. This cannot be done on the Nymphes easily, as they share the same fader, so you have to press Shift. This limitation affects where you can go with the sound easily.
Anyone else notice that the LFO pitch modulation seems to be subtly active even when the fader is at zero? I’ve tried sending CC to set it to zero and it still seems to be there. Pretty annoying if it’s part of the design, but I’m assuming mine’s just faulty!
The LFO1 intensity curve is a little hot, but I’ve never had difficulty setting it to zero. Maybe double check you don’t have any mod wheel signal going into the unit? (Many presets have that or other mod sources mapped to vibrato.) Or send a zero CC midi message to LFO1 to be sure? The interface makes troubleshooting a little cumbersome…
I believe this has been discussed upthread - iirc the “init” patch has the lfo behavior youre describing, so it’s not really an initial patch haha. I think someone uploaded a proper init patch without the lfo… Hopefully it was this thread, otherwise the conversation im remembering must have happened elsewhere.
