Dreadbox Artemis

Just an absolute crime that there’s no external audio through as on Typhon.
Regardless, I’d love the opportunity to play one…it really sounds nice.

Yeah, that’s actually the thing that has kept me from selling my Typhon!

As much as I’d love to pass audio through the Artemis filter and effects I am usually more ok with letting the Typhon VCO go unheard to use its effects on other gear than the Artemis voices which are in my music far more than the Typhon.

Different sound and concepts… the Alex Ball video on the DMNO also adds a few interesting thoughts regarding DMNO as a “normal” polysynth. On the other hand the combination of Artemis and Polyvera, both small, 6voice and “modern vintage” also might be interesting.

Very different synths and a massive price difference. Can’t really compare them imo. Redshift 6 and Artemis would be a better comparison, similar price and same polyphony although the Redshift is multitimbral.

Very cool! Thank you for spending my money! While I am here, shameless plug for my Artemis explorer , which splats the presets up on a web page and round trips it to the device

As far as sound goes, both sound fantastic to me. I don’t really hear a difference between good and good.

As for the concept, I’m not entirely sure they’re that far apart. Both are subtractive synths at their core.

I think that’s exactly why I’m struggling with this decision. It’s less of a technical question and more of a psychological one.

And it’s not really about the price

Cool editor! I really like the design

these are beautiful as always. whats going on with that kraken patch? is that the resonator? all of these sound incredible, which is very rare in a preset bank demo typically. extremely nice work here

Thanks. I am currently not in the studio but if I remember correctly, Kraken doesn’t use the resonator. If you want to hear that one in action, check out the preset Domovoi: https://youtu.be/L13_HhSz_fU?t=1413&si=uAEA_F-DgHqxfnsi
Here, the resonator is quite present in the sound and the delay time being controlled by keytracking

When installing @colectivo_triangular ‘s sweet plugins I noticed that Artemis-explorer by default was attempting to install them into the “A” bank and not the selected bank. This has been fixed, and pushed out to the hosted website.

Have just received mine today. Have not yet had a chance to play with it properly, just switched on to kick the tyres a bit as it’s a b-stock unit from Scan. No screen noise and appears to be working as expected. Hopefully the screen holds up.

Will return to the studio once it cools down a bit.

Well that didn’t go according to plan. I was thinking I’d just browse a few presets and get a feel for the UI, but instead got inspired a sketched out an ambient piece. No more time with it as I’m travelling for work.

Off to a good start.
