Double stop Octatrack = no more sound from Virus ti?

Hello,

I don’t understand what’s happening here : if i double stop the octatrack ; my virus snow stop to play any sound even if i play again the midi pattern or try playing through the keys mode ?

I have to switch off Octatrack and the virus snow and switch on again to make it works…

OS from both machines are updated ;

Do you know the problem ? I have tested on a virus ti2 yesterday too ; same problem…

I won’t try to double stop button now but sometimes… you know… It can be really annoying in a live situation !

i suppose the Virus goes into OT’s inputs.

and does the signal present at the inputs stop? (no blinking leds for input activity?)

Or does the Virus stop playing THRU the OT (speaking about DIR param in Mixer page -or- THRU machine)

If the case is the first,i do not have many cues.
Also for DIR param…

If the second, check for AMP settings for THRU machine.

Yes, what’s your signal path?

Double-stop on the OT will send a panic signal (or something like that) on the MIDI bus and it will stop any connected equipment that’s playing.

But normally, when you restart the sequencer, the Virus should play again…

I try 2 things :

thru OT’s inputs :
Leds signals are blinking, but no sounds

thru soundcard :
No leds, no sounds

I suspect midi send message like “stop everything including sounds”
when double-tapping stop.

BUT : same double-tapping with another synth (Pulse 2) and everything is ok…

Hi!

Is quite strange behaviour, I have a Virus TI desktop, I use it with the OT all the time and I don´t have the issue you are describing, I mean yeah double stop stops the secuencer and any tail of the sound gets cut, but once I press Play again, it starts to play normally…

Maybe is something to do with the Auto channel in the OT and Omni channel of the Virus… Maybe if they share the same “Auto” channel the double Stop might be sending something to the TI… Not sure, try different combinations…

Also, the best way to use the Virus is in Seq Mode… Try changing the Mode and see if it changes behaviour…

not saying this is your problem but it’s worth noting for someone who runs across the thread

if you are using a thru machine and you double stop, it stops everything, if you then press play on the OT and you don’t have a trig on your thru machine it will not play any sound

you either need to set a trig on the thru machine track or manually start it by pressing track and play

I generally don’t like to have a permanent trig there because it can lead to sound changes every time it hits that trig (I usually manually start my thru tracks or use one-time trigs)

That is so easy to forget a simple “trig” in a thru machine…
It works perfectly !!

Subq, to be sure, a one-time trig is done by :
Function>Bank (edit) : Plays free ; Trig mode : One ?

“One shot trigs are entered by pressing [FUNCTION] + the [TRIG] key of an existing sample trig. The LED will change from red to yellow, indicating the trig now is now a one shot trig. One shot trigs that have been activated by the sequencer are indicated by alternating yellow and red LEDs”

if you record/sample a lot they are essential. :slight_smile:
