I also have this problem with my DNK. Tried popping a couple keys out and blowing, seems like it maybe helped?
As far as accounts go, you should still be able to register for an account and even register the device even if you bought it used.

thanks, iāll give this a shot first. i guess iāll focus on just a couple buttons to see if it improves things, but it seems to happen everywhere. if it works for individual keys, thatās great - iāll just do it for all of them.
Just calling some more attention to this.
I would like to move my keys on at this point but really not sure where to start.
Mine has only been used very lightly since purchase but itās really going hard with this issue.
To reiterate the problem as I understand it-
I replaced the board on mine (shipping to the US Elektron repair facility) and that resolved it for the most part, I may have noticed a mistrigger once or twice but nowhere near as constant.
Dust and static electricity could cause intermittency, but if this is as common as it was for me, it is likely something that could require a board swap.
You should be able to create an Elektron account and register it still.
I too am still having this issue pop up now and then. Very annoying, especially the feedback above that a repair with Elektron wonāt solve the issue!
Speculation, but Iāve always felt that the DNK CPU was somewhat more overburdened than the regular DN, to the point where lots of functions on the device feel somewhat sluggish, at least from time to time.
I wonder if this is accounted for in whatever OS function is doing the debounce? I would gladly trade a reduction in responsiveness for an increase in debounce squelchability, if that is in fact the tradeoff.
Itās been my experience as well. The most taxing thing seems to be use of the LP4 filter, but having 4 tracks in Overbridge usually gets me response lag as well.
If youāre experiencing the triggering repeatedly on the latest OS, you will likely need a board replacement. Software can not compensate for that.
It does solve the issue in that it does not regularly occur.
Iām in Australia so dealing with this seems a bit off limits unless Elektron wants to put in a bit of effort to help me out.
At this point I may just donate mine as Iām sure there is someone getting started in music that may still have fun with it.
They could ship you the properly assembled board and a local could swap it out?
Call here maybe and describe the issue? --> Octatrack repair option for Australians
Ask if they feel they can fix it. But if it requires a board replacement like @thermionic says then you will need to ask Elektron if they can ship one. Product registration is still broken at the moment though.
I have a local Elektron repair in Poland that says they fixed these issues for DN Keys without needing extra parts but I havenāt gotten around to shipping them mine yetā¦
Iāll send them an email.
I guess Iām a bit salty as Iām outside warranty at this point and feel a bit miffed at likely having to pay for a known issue.
Iāll see how I go though and appreciate your advice!
Totally understood, it was much easier for me to ship from Washington state to California and I have been trying to be direct but not unempathetic! it absolutely sucks.
Hrmph, I havenāt tried registering anything lately, but beyond the warning that shouldnāt stop anyone from attempting to make contact. There should at least be the option for whomever responds to register the device for you.
Youāre right. It looks like they revamped the support contact form to now include S/N (or I just donāt remember it being there before).
Ah, good. Elektron isnāt super paranoid about reassigning owners so even if the field was missing itād still be possible to get repair support even if you couldnāt directly enter in the s/n.
Had this problem with my Digitone Keys transport buttons, filter, and yes keys. Popped them off and sprayed generous amount of contact cleaner in each then pressed them 50 times for good measure. No more issues. Works perfectly now going on 2 weeks.
It doesnāt look like there was any mention of it but there was a fix at the end of March for Digitone Keys:
I am glad I was on the fence about sending my DNK in for repair. Tested this update extensively and the issue is gone. Just magic.
Wow, my keys has been in for service for this issue but the problem kept spreading to other buttons rendering it unusable.
Really happy about this fix and the same time a bit bewildered that this wasnāt recognized as a software issue earlier.
Bumping this thread for any DNK users who may have missed this.
Ive installed it and its a game changer.
CURED!
I can name my patches again! Id given up trying to label things as it was too maddening with the double pressingā¦
Thank You Elektron!
My MIDI key was not working at all. I removed the key and followed this procedure this morning. The key works, but the blue light is on constantly, definitely something in there causing a loose connection. I had cleaned the coating about a year ago as it was degraded on all the keys
Will keep trying. Thanks
Wow thatās crazy! I was bummed again with this issue just this evening and thereās is a fix since March?
