Does your Digitakt 2 power supply make a high frequency noise?

hey folks,
just a quick question: i got a new Digitakt 2 and noticed today when I plug in the power cable, the power supply makes a constant high frequency noise. is it the same for you? its not loud, but i wanna be sure there is nothing wrong with the hardware i got which could turn into a problem later.

I have tinnitus so my high frequency noise beats the PSU’s high frequency noise (if the PSU does it :))!

There was some discussion about people with sensitive ears or sensitivity to transformer whine, were getting some high pitched noise from the newer power supply modules, I can’t remember the part number but it’s probably the current one included. All of mine are older, like prior generation, and they’re quiet.

I’ll look for the thread real quick.

I think there was actually more than one thread, but you can look for the other one if you’re interested. See if yours has the same part number as the one that they’re discussing which was making noise.

Since my original (Analog Four) PSU-3 died, I have been looking into options for replacement power supply units. Based in China, it wouldn’t make much sense to order an original Elektron PSU (it’s overpriced anyway), so I went on Taobao and found the power supplies from the original manufacturers of the PSU-3 and PSU-3b, with the difference, that both plugs are 2.1mm instead of 2.5mm (bought adapters) — specs and model numbers are identical otherwise. As for the PSU-3c, I couldn’t find that one…

i was planning to buy a 2nd power cable somewhen later anyway…then i may get one silent one at least for the real zen-sessions.

will drop a mail to Elektron though and see if they agree this is an issue that should be fixed for forthcoming products… if i get a reply, ill update here!

Yeah I don’t know what happened, I assume they made it smaller and maybe the new part is less insulated but I believe you could purchase one of the prior generation and the power delivery specs should be the same.

I mean I can’t speak for every one of them ever made, but I got 3 of them and none of them makes an audible noise. Good luck though and at least you got some more info.
