Does your Digitakt 2 occasionally feel a little laggy?

One thing I’m noticing with my new DT2 is that sometimes the UI or button presses feel like they are a half second late. I especially notice this when say navigating the sample pool or project ram, or when switching sequencer pages. Sometimes I need to press the page button more than once to actually get the page to change, other times it happens instantly as it should.

I know we’re a bit early in the development of a new box, so figured I’d ask if other people are seeing something similar before I try and track down bugs or if this is maybe a faulty unit. Thanks.

I’ve had a few occasions where I’ve been mid flow and suddenly I’m thinking “is this box doing what I’m asking it to?” Mainly using purple mutes, I’ve found that occasionally even if the light changes, the track stays muted. I’ve had to power cycle to fix it.

Bugs be bugs, they’ll get sorted eventually. It’d be something of a problem in a live set, but I’m a long way off worrying about that.

yeah mine also exhibits weird behavior like this

generally pretty buggy / even freezes up sometimes / it can’t be trusted in a live situation yet

I’ve definitely noticed it with the page button but put it down to a single short press moving the page on one whereas a longer one lights up the trig buttons to choose a page that way. I have remember to do a firm short press to get it to advance one page. So I don’t know if this user error or laggy behaviour?

Thanks everyone, that strangely puts my mind at ease a bit more about this amazing box. Figured it was teething issues with it being so new, hopefully they can optimize things a bit as we go.

My confidence is high. I had a Digitakt before and it was rock solid for many years. They’ll get there.

I’ve owned pretty much all the Elektron boxes (some multiple times), though this is my first go with one of the smaller boxes. I figured we’d get there eventually with stability, just trying to make sure it’s not specific to mine while still easy to return/exchange.

Cheers!

yeah it’s my favorite piece of gear atm but i can’t help but feel a little frustrated that the firmware was a hot mess upon the initial release

if i were an actual professional musician that paid $1000 intending to gig with it, i’d be pretty upset with even its current instability

working with it at home is a dream though, everything i make on it sounds good as hell

Thar be the risks of being early to any party.

Friends who rely on their live sets do favor older / more easily replaceable kit, stock Ableton plugins, Roland UI, and if I needed to balance professionality (and had others to share the creative load and distribution network) I’d have more energy to pore into a single instrument.

Being early was definitely a concern of mine, luckily I knew it would be a few months still before I have enough new material to play on the DT2 so not a huge rush for me. Still have the OT or 707 based sets if I need them in the meantime.

I’d like to put this into context, that we’ve got things like Logic for iPad which over a year, and a full major release upgrade, later still has some pretty major and annoying bugs. A company like Apple with all the resources they have, release with big annoying bugs, only provide point releases every six months and has left major problems unfixed across major releases. So I’d say Elektron are doing stellar by comparison.

I don’t have this with my dt2
It feels very solid

Same here, very stable.

Lagg only happens when you load long samples, or try to use it while transferring files via usb

That’s interesting what length sample constitutes “long”. My workflow revolves around resampling 8 bar loops.
