Does anyone else here make reggae/dub/dancehall with Elektron gear?

If anyone wants to hear more of my productions (entirely sequenced by a Digitakt II), we’re doing this live stream all day from 1-6pm EDT, from the Great Circles record shop here in Philly. I’ll be on around 3pm, sandwiched by two of the best reggae selectors I know. Tune in at greatcircles.net shortly!

Does Great Circles post events on another site? I went to their site and hit both listen and watch but nothing happens. Checked the calendar but found no links to performances. Also searched youtube and couldn’t find anything.

well, I warned you

Not my best pattns, this one… IIRC I had just got the ST and was still very new to it, but its the only one I recorder a take of so far

I call it the Bagel Dub

I love dub and have made a number of tracks over the years, not released though. Had a project with friends making electronic dub - Jahtari label style.

Made this video yesterday with Digitone II through some programs on the H90.

Ooh the follow through!
Don’t worry, I like it anyway. Really cool to hear it straight out of a ST.

I’m not super experienced in listening to a ton besides some Tubby and Scientist albums, and a monthly dub podcast. But I know I like it a lot.

Yo, that sounds really good! I especially liked when that melodica sound came in and that phaser.

Which monthly dub podcast?

The archives are posted here on SoundCloud (but they take a few weeks to process). I have no idea why you couldn’t play either the video or audio, sorry - it seems to have worked for others.

Thanks for trying anyway!

Nice and sparse!

Nice! Works well for practicing a subdued organ chop play-along from d minor to c minor on the 2 and 4 + random inversions and a few accents and splashes up the board in the right hand.

Actually more like droplets than splashes.

Nice work and a terrific label; Disrupt is very cool, especially the modded Monotron Delays he puts in old Commodore disc drive cases!

Not really with Elektron gear atm but using lot of TE stuff and other synths on my digital dub / laptop reggae/ whatnot and this thing is not that common so I figured the share! There is one album that I am now doing more heavily dubbed version of and then one EP. They all sort of have same songs but I want this to be sort of confusing evolving thing of riddims hah!

Great stuff from everybody here!

I thought I would have posted this track I did with an A4 and more in this thread before, but apparently not:

I should get the A4 out for some more dubs soon

Just to keep the conversation alive, I have a gig next weekend. I am thinking of what kind a siren/fx thing I should bring. I have this oldschool toy that has all the dive bombs, sirens etc bought from @Wolf-Rami s lovely shop in Turku, Finland but I would need to rewire it to have cables on to mixer. this is one option. I also sort of thought to just bring my Moog Mother 32 purely for siren and fx duties, since it is a local gig that I can walk maybe 500m home. Or maybe EP-133 loaded with samples? Thoughts? My other gear will be MPC1k with 4 outs to mixer (drums, bass, skank, other) and then I can dub those with my cheap Nux Atlantic (I have El Capistan but strangely NUX wins on live setting).

And to not totally hijack this with stuff, I did do stuff with elektrons before too and kinda regretting for example selling OT at some point because it would have been pretty great for this as standalone machine. Thinking also to move from MPC to DT but I guess DT does not have trad outs for say four channels?

The Dub Zone. Put together by one Pete Cogel. It’s been a nice way to discover new stuff.

I recently went to a reggae DJ event in my area where a guy was using a Korg Monotron Delay as a siren. Maybe not the best option but tiny and no worries about lugging around expensive gear. Plus, he even had it out for people watching to come up and use so it was a fun way to interact with the crowd. It was a pretty reasonably sized crowd though at a nice craft beer spot, so no worries about dodgy people running off with it. I love the Monotron delay, so any excuse to buy one is a good one in my books.

Ah yeah monotron delay could be option and also something i have used too. But would need to do the jahtari treatment to it…
