Do you use any scale modes and if so what is the best for ambient/soundscapes?

Hello,

I currently have the DT OG, Digitone and Peak. As a hobbyist I enjoy making ambient music and there are definitely keys/chords which I skip when I play via my midi keyboard, but accidentally hit them at times which sound off key so I wondered if you use those scales on the Elektrons or other gear to help and if so what would you recommend for ambient and soundscape music?

Thanks

yea defo use em, they’re great. experiment with the scale modes yourself would be my advice.
enjoy the journey and use your own ears. you’ll find the ones that resonate with you. everyone’s different.

on digitone you can set a scale while having the arp toggled on, set the fold to ON and then just play notes while switching the scales, very easy to find a scale that will fit your mood

Oh I like that idea. I read scales didn’t work in arp mode earlier or I misread, thanks!

what people mean is the arp editor doesn’t work with scales, but if you only use the notes it works

Remove the term “best” from the equation and it’ll open up so many more possibilities.
