Do Movies Kind of Suck Now?

“What if we took the best piece of zombie fiction ever written, throw all that out, make a generic apocalypse movie, and have the climactic moment include Brad Pitt drinking a Pepsi?”

“What do you mean that sounds like a terrible idea? Well, too damn bad, because that’s what we’re doing”

So I just saw the “final” trailer for this.

The marketing campaign has sure been interesting but pretty exhaustive.
I’m hoping that what they have shared ends up being mostly in the first part of the movie and there’s lots of surprises still.

I’ll venture to the cinema for the full sound design spectacle, and I hope it gets some hype.
But I’m sadly prepared for a let down for all the reasons I said in 2020, young cast also makes me weary. I relate better to middle aged jaded space truckers.

But who knows, might be a mind bender. I’m sad we never got Ridley’s conclusion to the David story, but if Fede can subtly pull that in and create some new and interesting lore without making it a memberberry fest I’m in.
“Remember the queen, remember Ash, remember pulse rifles, remember when Ripley sang lucky star” it’s a tough gig rebooting and pleasing an old and new audience.
I still think just do something new and don’t bow to audience and studio pressure, but I’m not a director with executives breathing down my neck.

(I always wondered how long the facehugger lives after successful insemination, it somehow made it into that crevice in the medbay)

((I love Alien))

Yeah, that’s why I watched the first trailer and then didn’t watch any more. I want to go in cold. I would be hesitant, because reboots and legacy sequels are generally bad, but Fede has good instincts for body horror. He’s got a nasty streak, and I mean that in the best possible way. I’m excited to see what he does
