Dj Set for friends @ 320kbps?

Hi !
I’m a bit new in all those dimension that is music so I need some opinions to buid a live set for my friends and our mini week end.

My friend posted an encouragement for me, he want me to play for two hours, but the fucking problem is that i’m a total noob who waste his time on elektronaut.

Bref.
I want to play live some things but i’m not sure it will be okay so i’m now thinking to just Dj with my Octatrack and fun sounds that everybody will like.

Did you think I can Use sounds of 320kbps quality with fx and manipulation on ?

Did you think the octatrack is incredible for this and I can improvise a bit with a basic dj set ?

For live a more live situation:

Did some of you have help for live organisation between bank and parts and scenes on the OT ?
I’m thinking that with some prepared parts etc I will be able to live with my improvisation…

Just searching for some of your feedback experiences, discoveries and planing for live situation even a little noob or friendly, I just want to give a bit of pleasure finally !

Thank to everybody who understood a bit !

Muy love

Octatrack is perfect for improvisation, definitely

You can do whatever you want to do

For a classical DJset approach use a couple of tracks (lets call the A and B) and set them to Play Free mode.
Load your tracks to the static pool. Create and use slices as CUE points so you can start from the begging, freely jump between parts, back to sync in case you play with Sample PTCH/RATE, etc., using the triggers buttons in Slice Mode.
Don’t forget to set an appropriated Quantize Trig value on Sample attributes to get all “in tempo” (using pattern length will get you in sync all the time).
For the actual mixing, the best is to use a dedicated MIDI controller to control levels and lows (EQ or Filter) for A and B. Or you can use a real Mixer and the four OT outputs. Or you can use the Xfader to make the transitions but I rater prefer to use it as FX and Sampler mangler. That standard mixing mechanics involves rising and lowering Levels and Lows asynchronous, you can achieve this with four scenes that you will need to reload constantly to achieve neat transitions.

Start simple and once you have it, then start adding other elements, samples, FX, and at last resampling.

Thank you !
Oh la la I never trief the free run slice mode start…
I was thinking that I cannot play with the start when static machine… But maybe it is just the lfo in fact …

Can you precue the sound on your headphone to nicely use the good start and cue launch ?

I’m now naming my track with their tempo, this is a really great function <3
The xfader is cool but it is as you say not really in chord with FX ///

So you use parts, as maybe one for this kind of reverb, one for a break, one for delay maybe, to have a total reedit on tracks ?

Dammit, this machine look incredible for remix…

Thank you, it is nice to have a needed practice on live and to talk about !
haha

You use ressampling of A and B in particular ?

I use the OT as sampler and processor for my live setup that also includes an AF and a RYTM, never played with resample yet, still mastering the main features for my needs. Anyway I use to play with free running samples and slices, and I thought it could be useful for DJing.

I think you can pre cue on OT headphones using de CUE + Track function.

Watch out Parts because you will be changing Slots on tracks and Parts hold that info too, I’m not sure, may be the fact of having tracks running freely will spare you, in any case check Start Silent Mode also.

I would use Parts for FX mostly yes, and also as transition helper f I don’t have an external controller or a Mixer. I seriously advice you to get a mixer and use the OT in Studio Mode. That way you can use your mixer’s levels eq cue etc.

Btw if I’m not wrong, the thing you can’t do with statics is to modulate the STRT /LEN with an LFO too fast because samples aren´t loaded fully in memory.
