Hey,
Just taken delivery of a Digitakt yesterday and having lots of fun so far.
I’m mainly a techno head but would love to try making some DJ Krush style “abstract hip hop” beats on it
Any good pointers for sample sources, techniques, beat patterns etc? Or indeeed tutorials.
Thanks!
Tom
Chopped up old breakbeats layered with drum machine samples.
Sample some jazz and funk riffs for melodies, basses etc.
Here are a bunch of drumbreaks->

And here are 66 classic drum machines sampled->

Japanese traditional music is one of his main sample sources. I always enjoy digging through Japanese records/the web.
Dj Krush is one of the greatest, I watched him live like 12 years ago, his set blew my mind. What an amazing artist.

Thanks very much both of you! I think this device is going to be a great excuse to broaden my musical horizons, I’ve already had much fun picking random playlists off Spotify and sampling bits!

I’m sure you’ll enjoy your DT, it’s a very inspiring instrument.
I’m also messing with the same genres as you are, although I’m a hip hop head trying to get into techno

It certainly is inspiring. Every time I’ve turned it on I’ve come up with something interesting in a matter of minutes. Even though the selection of effects and controls are not massive, you can get a sample somewhere interesting really quickly especially with resampling, and the workflow is so fast.
Would love the dual hi/low pass Filter from the MD though, often I really want to do both to a sample! Hopefully it’ll come at some point, saw a post from Simon suggesting it’s not an impossibility
Add some swing to the beats and then rearrange them slightly off too. He also uses delay slightly out of time too.
