DJ Funk RIP

Break it down

First heard this track on Dave Clarke’s legendary BBC Essential mix from 1994. Been playing it out ever since :ok_hand:

Comedy in music is so hard and when someone nails it alongside quality musical impact it’s rare - DJ Funk always delivers!

Loved dj funk. His dance mania stuff was always in my sets when I started playing techno in late 90s. Also very funny guy

Was a dream moment when I got to dj with him. Not so great when he passed the mic and asked me to mc over him. Think I mumbled few words and passed it back

There was a time I didn’t have a stable place to live and had sold all of my music equipment. The only thing I essentially had left was my turntables and a small bag of my favourite records, but no speakers.

Unfortunately, circumstance meant I spent a lot of time alone and didn’t have much money for a while.

Sometimes I’d sit in the dark with this record on the turntable and just listen to the sound of the song coming from the cartridge needle on the vinyl. This was one of those seemingly simple but ‘pure’ tracks I always wished I’d made.

This is terrible news, RIP.

Really sad. I grew up in seeing him dj around Chicago area & Milwaukee Drop Bass parties. Quite a few Funk sets at Route 66 and Dalton area.
